Distillery Production Operator

Reports to: CTO and Plant manager

Compensation: $25 / hour starting during the training period, with no experience. Expect 60 days for the training period. (pay increase after training is complete) - $27 per hour. Higher pay for more experienced operators. (pay increase after training is complete)

Post-training earnings: $27 per hour plus

**In addition to hourly compensation and overtime opportunities, the successful candidate will be eligible for YE bonus consideration, depending on company performance. Shares vesting over 3 years. The plant operates 24/7

Shifts operating are most likely a 2-2-3 pattern 12-hour shift (4-4 is being considered)

Key Responsibilities:

Plant control room operator is a primary function.

Knowledge in process controls systems. Process automation controls. Control room operations. Experience in boilers, water RO, 3phase 460v wiring, and stainless steel welding. Operating of heat transfer or pressure equipment.

Operate DCS (computer control system) for the plant.

Follow standard operating procedures for plant start-up, shut down, cleaning, and batching.

Stay within operating parameters set by the plant/production manager and notify management of any production problems.

Keep accurate and timely logs.

Collect samples and do the necessary tests to ensure a consistent and quality product and record results.

Monitor and make adjustments on the (DCS) computer according to the results of the samples and to keep within parameters and record changes.

Keep operators coming on shift briefed on what has happened and what is supposed to be done during the next shift.

Work closely with maintenance and inform them of any mechanical problems.

Responsible for notifying Production/Plant Manager of any production problems.

Complete any and all tasks assigned by the plant manager/production manager.

Help out in other areas as needed. Cleaning/disinfecting/bottling/packaging/truck loading.

Ability to perform light equipment maintenance (change pump hoses, replace flanges or sanitary gaskets)

12 hour floating, rotating shift. (plant is operating 24/7) (2-2-3 or 4-4 work pattern)

Available occasionally for call-in work and overtime.

Participate in safety programs and ongoing training sessions.

Required to follow all safety procedures.

Ability to claim multiple platforms and lift 50-60 lb

Reliable and punctual.

Higher pay for experienced operators, knowledge in distillation, boiler operations

3Phase 480 electrical knowledge is a plus.

Control valve, pump maintenance

Centrifuge operations

Motor control (MCC) and PLC knowladge.

This role will work overtime and/or alternate schedules to ensure coverage for planned and unplanned absences (including but not limited to vacation, leave, call-offs, etc.) as required. The plant operate 24/7 weekend work involved.

Paid lunch time

Physical Requirements

Frequently stand, walk, bend over, twist, kneel, stoop, climb and crouch. Navigate stars frequently. (4 tier platforms)

Qualifications

1-3 years’ experience as an operator or preferably assistant to a distiller and/or assistant in distillery/brewery/winery production

Dairy plant operations experience would be excellent

Ethanol plant control room operator

Automation controls

Will train

Can do attitude/self-starter

Works successfully with others and independently

Must be a multi-tasker and organized

Ability to follow direction and be reliable

Willingness and eagerness to learn

Strong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills

Mechanically inclined/able to use software such as distillery operations

Willingness to work weekends

Flexible hours including evenings, holidays, weekends
