The Lithgow Library is seeking a full-time (40 hours) Adult Services Library Aide to provide exceptional service to a diverse community of patrons in a busy Adult Services environment. In this role, you’ll assist patrons at the Circulation and Reference Desks, check materials in and out, issue library cards, provide reader’s advisory and technology assistance, answer questions, and help patrons navigate library resources and policies. You’ll also support programming, displays, outreach, public computer and study space scheduling, and other department projects that help make the library a welcoming and engaging community resource. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or higher in library science, communications, education, or a related field preferred. A minimum of one (1) year of experience working directly with the public in a customer service, library, or related environment required; prior public library experience preferred. Strong customer service skills required. Prior experience using Sierra Library Services Platform software strongly preferred. Must be available to work a flexible schedule during library operating hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to support library operations, programs, and community needs.
Compensation & Benefits This full-time hourly, non-exempt position falls within Non-Union Salary Table Range 11, which is currently $20.78 to $26.75 per hour. Actual rate of pay within the hiring range will depend on experience, qualifications, and available budget; however, the anticipated starting pay range is $20.78 to $25.10 per hour. Employees are eligible for an annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) as well as a potential merit-based step increase each year. The City of Augusta offers a choice of three excellent health insurance plans. Depending on the plan selected, a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) may be available to help offset deductible costs. Employees who are covered under a qualifying alternative health plan may be eligible for a medical buyout, currently ranging from $2,400 to $3,600 annually, based on coverage eligibility. Retirement benefits include mandatory enrollment in the MainePERS Plan AC, a defined benefit pension plan. Please note that employees in this plan do not contribute to Social Security. Employees also earn paid vacation and sick leave, receive 13 paid holidays per year, and have access to Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for medical and dependent care expenses.
