We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Service Technician to join our IT Field Services team. This entry-level role provides an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills in a dynamic environment. You will embark on an exciting journey to achieve a Dell certification in hardware and device repair.
As a Field Service Technician, you will utilize, develop, and strengthen CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ skill sets and toolsets in a hands-on environment. You will build essential skills in computer hardware, network troubleshooting, device repair, and physical security.
SHG Field Services offers hands-on experience with a wide range of systems and devices, preparing you for a successful career in IT. As part of the SHG Field Services team, you will become a Dell Certified Technician Pro specializing in IT device repair, setup, and deployments within the ITIL framework.
You will work closely with experienced technicians to gain practical knowledge in diagnosing POS issues, repairing laptops and mobile devices, customer engagement, and more. This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to build a strong foundation in technology and professional certification.
Duties
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing various computer hardware components across multiple operating systems including Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.
- Use hand tools and soldering equipment to perform hardware repairs on laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
- Conduct analysis of technical issues by examining schematics and technical documentation to identify root causes.
- Support field service operations by diagnosing problems ON-SITE and providing effective solutions for mobile devices and computer systems.
- Assist in testing and configuring new equipment to ensure optimal performance before deployment or sale.
- Participate in retail sales activities by demonstrating product features and assisting customers with technical inquiries.
- Develop skills in software troubleshooting, operating system installation, and system upgrades under supervision.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of computer hardware components and operating systems such as Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.
- Familiarity with mobile devices including smartphones and tablets; experience with repair or troubleshooting is a plus.
- Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively for soldering and hardware assembly or repair tasks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex computer component replacements.
- Assist with computer installation and setup deployments and Smart Hands operations.
- Support network maintenance activities as smart hands for remote support engineers, including physical device connectivity forAPs (access points), firewall, and Cisco Meraki devices.
- Manage computer hardware components and peripherals; perform basic maintenance and upgrades.
- Aid in the setup and maintenance of mobile devices and operating systems to ensure connectivity and security compliance.
- Strong analysis skills to interpret schematics, technical manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
- Excellent communication skills to assist customers during technical support interactions.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to equipment repair, software diagnostics, and field service procedures.
- Prior experience or interest in retail sales or customer service is advantageous but not required. Requirements
- Knowledge of Laptop, Tablet, and PC hardware components and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Own precision level screwdrivers, bits, security bits to open a laptop or tablet or phone.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users
The rate of pay is Novice=$20hrly, Apprentice=$22hrly Journeyman=$25hrly, and MasterTech=$27hrly and between 25 to 32 hours per week.
Pay: Up to $27.00 per hour
