Full Job Description

Patient Services Representative

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Ø Represents physicians by screening incoming telephone calls; recording and transmitting messages; scheduling, receiving, and announcing scheduled patients and visitors; screening unscheduled patients and visitors.

Ø Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information. Obtains, updates and verifies insurance information.

Ø Maintains a professional appearance and calm and courteous demeanor in-office and on the phone.

Ø Ensures physician productivity by maintaining calendars; scheduling patient appointments; professional meetings, conferences; teleconferences, and travel.

Ø Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patient arrival, being aware of delays and communicating with patients and clinical staff.

Ø Collects co-payments and reconciles daily reports.

Ø Provides general office and clerical support.

Ø Provides historical reference by developing and utilizing filing and retrieval systems; maintaining patient records; recording meeting discussions.

Ø Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.

Ø Maintains office supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs and reporting needs.

Ø Keeps the front office and reception areas clean and well organized.

Ø Keeps office equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; reporting repair needs to management.

Ø Serves and protects the health care community by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures while following federal, state, and local requirements.

Ø Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.

Ø Performs other related duties and/or projects as assigned.
