SENIOR ACCOUNTANT – FAMILY OFFICE SERVICES

Position Summary
Family Office Growth Partners is seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant – Family Office Services to join our growing family office platform. Working under the strategic leadership and operational oversight of the President & Chief Operating Officer, and in collaboration with the assigned Managing Director – Family Office Services, where applicable, the Senior Accountant serves as the accounting and financial reporting leader supporting a portfolio of ultra-high-net-worth families, trusts, privately held businesses, and complex ownership structures. The Senior Accountant partners closely with the assigned Client Engagement Manager, who serves as the primary client relationship manager, to deliver sophisticated accounting solutions and an exceptional client experience.
This is not a traditional corporate accounting or bookkeeping role. We are seeking a strategic accounting professional who understands the broader impact of financial activity on each client's tax planning, ownership structure, reporting objectives, and long-term financial goals. The successful candidate exercises sound professional judgment, evaluates transactions beyond their accounting treatment, identifies planning opportunities, and collaborates with internal leadership and each client's trusted advisors to deliver proactive family office solutions.
The Senior Accountant also provides technical leadership and quality oversight for outsourced accounting resources, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to Family Office Growth Partners' accounting standards across every client engagement.
Primary Responsibilities
Family Office Accounting
- Manage the accounting and financial reporting for ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, partnerships, LLCs, foundations, privately held businesses, and other complex ownership structures.
- Maintain complete and accurate books and records across multiple sophisticated client engagements.
- Perform and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Prepare Balance Sheets, Income Statements, Cash Flow Statements, customized management reports, and consolidated financial reporting.
- Coordinate cash management, budgeting, forecasting, treasury activities, and financial analysis.
Complex Accounting
- Perform advanced account reconciliations across banking, brokerage, investment, loan, trust, and operating accounts.
- Reconcile intercompany transactions, shareholder loans, owner distributions, trust distributions, capital contributions, and transfers between related entities.
- Design, improve, and maintain customized charts of accounts that produce meaningful financial reporting while supporting tax preparation.
- Evaluate each financial transaction to ensure appropriate accounting treatment while considering its impact on ownership structures, cash flow, tax planning opportunities, and long-term reporting objectives.
- Analyze partnership activity, capital accounts, ownership allocations, Schedule K-1 information, and other complex ownership reporting to identify inconsistencies, planning opportunities, and matters requiring coordination with the client's CPA and advisory team.
- Identify unusual transactions, trends, or financial issues requiring additional review and communicate recommendations to the Client Engagement Manager, leadership, and the client's professional advisors.
- Prepare schedules supporting tax returns, audits, financial reviews, lending relationships, estate planning, and other client reporting requirements.
Investment Portfolio Accounting
- Reconcile brokerage and custodial accounts across multiple financial institutions.
- Record and reconcile investment activity, including purchases, sales, dividends, interest income, capital gains, management fees, capital calls, distributions, transfers, partnership activity, and other investment transactions based on each client's reporting requirements.
- Maintain accounting records for publicly traded securities, private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, real estate investments, and other alternative investments.
- Prepare investment schedules supporting consolidated family reporting, tax preparation, and financial statement presentation, as required.
- Coordinate with investment advisors, custodians, and tax professionals to ensure investment activity is accurately reflected within each client's accounting records.
- Understand how investment portfolios integrate with trusts, personal balance sheets, business entities, and consolidated family reporting.
Leadership & Quality Control
- Supervise, mentor, and review the work performed by outsourced accounting professionals, including offshore bookkeepers, accountants, senior accountants, and, where appropriate, CPA-level resources.
- Establish and maintain accounting standards, quality control procedures, and best practices across all client engagements.
- Review all accounting work before delivery to clients to ensure completeness, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to Family Office Growth Partners' standards.
- Coordinate workflow with the President & COO, assigned Managing Director, Client Engagement Managers, and leadership to ensure deadlines and client expectations are consistently achieved.
- Assist with client onboarding, accounting transitions, system implementations, and process improvements.
Technology & Systems
- Work comfortably across multiple accounting platforms and client environments, including QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Sage, Xero, Quicken, AppFolio, Rent Manager, Bill.com, and other accounting and property management systems.
- Adapt to client-specific financial systems while implementing standardized Family Office Growth Partners reporting practices.
- Support accounting system conversions, integrations, and process automation initiatives.
Core Competencies
The successful candidate will possess:
- CPA-level accounting knowledge and professional judgment.
- Extensive experience with personal, trust, partnership, business, and multi-entity accounting.
- Strong understanding of investment portfolio accounting, brokerage reconciliations, alternative investment structures, and Schedule K-1 reporting.
- Knowledge of trust accounting, capital accounts, ownership structures, intercompany accounting, and tax-sensitive financial reporting.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to understand the business purpose and tax implications behind financial transactions, not simply record them.
- Strong communication skills with clients, attorneys, CPAs, investment advisors, and internal leadership.
- Experience leading and reviewing the work of domestic and offshore accounting professionals.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and exceptional client service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA designation strongly preferred, or equivalent technical accounting expertise.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Significant experience supporting high-net-worth individuals, family offices, trusts, privately held businesses, or outsourced accounting environments.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, together with demonstrated expertise working across multiple accounting platforms and client-specific general ledger systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating diverse financial environments while maintaining consistent accounting standards and reporting quality.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience managing multiple complex client relationships simultaneously, each with distinct structures, service needs, priorities, and levels of engagement.
- Experience supervising domestic and offshore accounting teams is strongly preferred.

The Senior Accountant serves as the technical accounting leader supporting Family Office Growth Partners' clients, partnering closely with the Client Engagement Manager to deliver sophisticated accounting solutions that support each family's broader financial, tax, estate, and legacy planning objectives.
Success in this role means more than producing accurate financial statements. It requires understanding the financial story behind each family, evaluating the impact of every transaction, identifying opportunities to improve reporting and operational efficiency, coordinating seamlessly with trusted advisors, and maintaining the highest standards of quality across both internal and outsourced accounting resources.
The successful candidate is equally comfortable reviewing a trust distribution, reconciling a private equity capital call, analyzing a Schedule K-1, redesigning a chart of accounts, supervising an offshore accounting team, or helping a family better understand the financial position of their personal and business enterprises.
