Full Job Description

FORESTRY MAINTENANCE WORKER

POSTING DATE: Open Until Filled

FACILITY: Cole Maintenance Shop

LOCATION: Aurora, IL

HOURS: Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3pm; some overtime and weekends may be necessary through planting seasons of Spring and Fall.

RATE: $16/hour - minimum starting rate

TYPE: Part-Time/Seasonal

QUALIFICATIONS
Individual must be 18 years of age or older with a high school degree or equivalent. Must possess a valid IL driver’s license. Previous grounds maintenance experience required with preference given to those with tree knowledge and experience with chain saws and other related equipment. Individual must be able to lift 50 pounds and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions including high heat and humidity. Skilled in maintenance equipment operations and use of various hand and power tools highly desired. Required to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.

DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Manager of Arboriculture, the Tree Maintenance worker will be assigned to on-going restoration and maintenance projects. Individual must be able to work well independently with little supervision. Projects will include planting, trimming, pruning, watering and inspecting trees and shrubs throughout the District and within the nurseries. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. This is an at-will position.
