At East Aurora Counseling, LTD, we welcome learners of all levels with an interest in learning client-centered counseling and collaborative case management.
This internship is a hands-on, learning opportunity designed to provide students with practical and real-world experience with an emphasis on client-centered therapy. Students will be given the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge, enhance their practical skills, and develop a deeper understanding of the complexities of working with diverse populations.

Key Components:
- Direct Client Interaction: Interns will work directly with clients under the supervision of licensed professionals. This may involve conducting counseling sessions, providing support, and assisting in developing treatment plans.
- Observation and Shadowing: Interns will observe experienced practitioners in action.
- Case Management: Interns will actively participate in case management, including documentation, progress notes, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive client care.
- Professional Development: Interns will engage in regular supervision and reflective sessions with a designated supervisor. This fosters personal and professional growth, as well as the opportunity to discuss challenges and receive guidance.
- Cultural Competence: The internship emphasizes working with diverse populations, fostering an understanding of cultural, social, and economic factors that influence clients' lives and well-being.
- Ethical Considerations: Interns will learn to navigate ethical dilemmas and adhere to professional standards while providing services to clients.
- Setting Diversity: Internships may take place in a variety of settings, such as community mental health centers, schools, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, or nonprofit organizations. This exposure allows students to explore different environments and populations.
- Supervision: Each intern will be assigned a licensed supervisor who will provide guidance, evaluate progress, and facilitate a constructive learning experience.
