$15,000 Sign On bonus - plus Lump Sum Relocation.
Shift/Status: Full Time 4 shifts Minimal Call

Baylor Scott & White Health Lakeway is a 131 bed, Full-Service hospital. The Medical Center is a certified primary stroke center, a certified chest pain center. Lakeway has achieved Magnet recognition for its nursing professionalism, teamwork and superiority in patient care.

Lakeway is located about 25 miles west of downtown Austin. Lakeway is ideally situated on the south shore of Lake Travis in the scenic Texas Hill Country. Lakeway is a resort community complete with golf courses, tennis courts, marinas, a 65-mile long lake, 100 acres of parkland and trails, and nearly 500 acres of greenbelts. Procedures: Kyphoplasty, Port-a-Cath Placements, Biopsies, Cryoablations, Uterine Artery Embolization, Prostate Embolization, GI Bleed Embolization, Thrombectomy, Percutaneous Drain Placement, Paracentesis, Thoracentesis, Fistulagrams.

Electrophysiology - Pacemaker, Ablation, Cryo-ablation, Pulse Field Ablation, Paras and Thoras

Department: Interventional Radiology IR - 3 procedure suites. 2 GE fluoroscopy units (soon to be upgraded to Phillips), Siemens biplane system. 12 private room pre/post holding rooms.

Job Summary

The Interventional Radiology Technologist, under a Radiologist's supervision, performs interventional radiology procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients. These procedures are requested by a physician or licensed provider for diagnosing disease and injury, following established protocols.

Essential Functions of the Role

Performs high-quality IR procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.
Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to identify service needs. Ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their families about the test to be performed. Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.
Prepares patient and area for procedure by positioning patient and adjusting immobilization devices. Moves equipment into position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors.
Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques. Uses proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive multimodality procedures. Maintains hand hygiene requirements.
Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure equipment operates well. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining the supplies inventory.
Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.
Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation. This includes requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, and policies.
Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.

Able to stay calm and helpful, even during stressful times. Take appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues.
Able to effectively administer first aid and use emergency cart.
Able to ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous, professional service. Review patient satisfaction scores and develop action plans when needed.
Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, continued education, and skills for appropriate care of these age groups: newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric.
Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
Able to take call, if required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION

ARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R): ARRT-Radiography (ARRT-R) is required.
Must be certified in one of the following within two years of hire: ARRT-CI Cardiac-Interventional (ARRT-CI), ARRT-CV Cardiovasc-Inter Rad (ARRT-CV), or ARRT-VI Interventional Rad (ARRT-VI).
