Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, currently has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a Patent Agent/Patent Associate in our Intellectual Property Practice Group in our Austin, TX office. GT is consistently among the top firms on the Am Law Global 100; the Patent Agent/Associate will have the opportunity to work with clients, large and small, from a variety of industries across the country. The Austin team has a dynamic and continually growing practice focused on a broad range of intellectual property matters. A unique and compelling feature of our law firm is that we offer a strong local presence, but also with a national and global platform that allows us to help our clients on their most interesting and complex IP issues.

Job Requirements:

This position will support the IP Practice working on the strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios. The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of focused experience in the following areas:

Drafting patent applications in the computer arts (e.g., software, AI/ML/LLMs, FinTech, web applications, telecommunications, integrated circuits, etc.)
Prosecuting patent applications

Candidates should be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark office. Candidates with a degree or an advanced degree in computer engineering and/or computer science are preferred, although candidates with degrees in electrical engineering or other relevant experience will also be considered. Experience drafting complex software patent applications is required. Candidates must have excellent academic credentials, be comfortable working directly with clients, and possess strong writing and analytical skills.
