Summary:

The primary role of this position is to carry out all necessary support functions and duties of the Cleveland County WIC Program in accordance with all WIC Federal, State, and County guidelines.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:

Interact with WIC participants and applicants daily in person and via phone: Conduct WIC certifications including voter registration, loading of WIC benefits, appropriate appointments scheduled, nutrition education provided, referrals, orientation to the program

Engage in Caseload Management of the WIC Program but providing outreach, missed appointment contacts, and reviewing state reports

Provide a positive breastfeeding environment

The responsibilities and duties outlined above are intended to provide a general outline and summary of this role. Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of office assistant, customer service, secretarial, or clerical type experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

General knowledge of office procedures, methods, and practices.

Ability to learn, interpret, and apply federal, state, and local WIC Program rules and regulations.

Ability to deal tactfully with the public and to exercise good judgement in appraising situation and making decisions.

This work requires occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force

Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires sitting and using hands to finger, handle or feel and occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and repetitive motions

Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly

Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound

Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities

Work is generally in a moderately noisy location like a business office.

This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short-term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval.

In the event that the State Emergency Response Team is activated, this position will be required to participate if deemed necessary.
