Peoria Homebound Certified Special Education Teacher (Peoria Area)

Location: Peoria, AZ and surrounding communities
Job Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Daytime Hours (Between 7:40am – 4:00 pm)
Hourly Rate: $32.00/hour

Goodwin Learning Academy (GLA) is an Arizona Department of Education and ESA-approved private special education school committed to providing exceptional educational services to students with diverse learning needs. Through individualized homebound, virtual, and campus-based instruction, we meet students where they are and provide the personalized support they need to achieve meaningful academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.

Job Overview:

Goodwin Learning Academy is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly skilled Certified Special Education Teacher to provide individualized homebound instruction for students throughout the Peoria area.

This is not a traditional classroom teaching position. Our teachers work one-on-one with students in their homes and other approved instructional settings, providing personalized instruction while building meaningful relationships with students and families.

We are specifically seeking educators who excel in behavior management and are confident working with students who require significant academic, behavioral, emotional, and developmental support.

Duties:

Deliver individualized instruction aligned with each student's Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) and educational goals.
Develop engaging, standards-based lessons that accommodate each student's unique learning profile.
Differentiate instruction using evidence-based special education practices.
Implement accommodations, modifications, and individualized instructional strategies.
Utilize positive behavior interventions and reinforcement systems to increase student success.
Collect, monitor, and maintain accurate academic and behavioral data.
Conduct ongoing assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Maintain consistent communication with parents, caregivers, related service providers, and school leadership.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student success.
Travel between assigned student homes throughout the workday.
Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with all Arizona Department of Education requirements and school policies.

The ideal candidate understands that behavior is communication and possesses the patience, consistency, and instructional expertise necessary to help students develop replacement skills while maintaining a safe learning environment.

Skilled in behavior management techniques for students with disabilities.
Proficiency in integrating educational technology and learning tools to facilitate individualized instruction.
Excellent communication skills for effective parent engagement and collaboration with teaching teams.
Ability to adapt lesson plans for diverse learners while maintaining high engagement levels.
Experience providing speech therapy or collaborating with speech-language pathologists is a plus.
Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavioral health strategies, and recreational or therapeutic interventions.
Demonstrated ability to work independently in a home setting while managing multiple caseloads efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate
Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a closely related field
Minimum of one year of experience working with students with disabilities preferred
Strong behavior management experience required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and proof of insurance
Ability to travel throughout the Peoria area
