Full Job Description

Arizona Eye Specialists is a busy, valley-wide Ophthalmology practice, proudly serving our Patients since 1953! We are currently seeking a bi-lingual (Spanish required) experienced, team-oriented Surgical Scheduler (for single M.D.); one with high integrity, excellent work ethics and a positive attitude.

Job requirements include: Two years of previous surgical scheduling experience. Highly prefer experience in patient work-up, tonometry, refractions, A-scans, and minor surgery. PC proficiency and good organizational skills is a must. Certification preferred, and flexibility to travel between valley-wide clinics required. *Pay rate is based upon certification(s) and/or experience; $21-$24/hr.

REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent (required), some college preferred.
Two years experience in a surgical specialty practice, ophthalmology preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish required)
Eye experience and terminology very helpful.
Some travel to multiple offices.

Able to meet patient surgical scheduling volumes.
Provide outstanding patient service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as an effective liaison between the patient, surgeon, primary care physician, and the surgical facility in all aspects of pre-operative preparations.
Schedule all patient surgeries and pre-operative appointments, including those with the patient’s primary care physician, surgical facility, ophthalmologist or technician.
Verify eligibility of insurance.
Discussion of payment and deductibles.
Schedule post-operative appointments, as appropriate.
Arrange patient transportation, if necessary.
Notify patient of all scheduled appointments.
Prepare surgery folders and post-op kits.
Send appropriate H&P forms as well as lab, EKG and radiology needs to primary care physician.
Collect all pertinent information for upcoming surgery such as bookings, lens orders, insurance and H&Ps, signed consent forms and transfer to surgical facility.
Answer all telephone inquiries from patients, their families, or primary care physicians concerning surgery and/or related concerns.
Two days prior to surgery, advise the patient as to the time they should arrive at the hospital, answer any questions, and remind them of any changes in their medications.
Assist with the billing functions associated with surgical charges. This includes researching questions regarding billing, provide follow-up and follow-through with health insurance concerns, and ensure overall patient satisfaction.
Triage – assist patient by answering questions and/or making recommendations to insure appropriate health care.
