Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a Structural Engineering Designer Associate with experience in timber (Type V) and occasional light steel construction for residential and light commercial projects. The ideal candidate will assist with structural design, drafting, calculations, and project coordination while working closely with senior engineers and the drafting team. This position is ideal for someone looking to grow their technical skills in a fast-paced structural engineering environment and offers an exciting opportunity to expand expertise in structural systems, project management, and advanced design tools while contributing to high-quality projects.

Duties

Draft structural components for residential and light commercial Type V and light steel framing projects.
Perform structural calculations using various engineering software programs.
Assist with the preparation and coordination of structural plans and construction documents.
Communicate with clients and internal staff regarding structural design questions and revisions.
Conduct occasional site visits to verify as-built conditions and assess structural conformance during construction.
Support project scheduling and maintain organized project documentation using the office CRM and project management systems.
Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and office staff to help ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
Maintain accurate records of hours worked and project time tracking using the office management system.
Assist with general office and project-related duties when needed.

Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
EIT certification preferred but not required.
Experience with wood (Type V) and light steel framing design preferred.
Familiarity with residential and light commercial construction practices.
Basic to intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD.
Ability to identify design issues and assist in developing practical, code-compliant solutions.
Strong organizational and communication skills.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
