Summit is seeking an experienced Lead HVAC Installer to oversee and execute high-quality residential and light commercial HVAC installations. This role requires advanced technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strong commitment to craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. The Lead Installer will manage installations from start to finish, mentor installation team members, and ensure all systems are installed safely, efficiently, and to code.

Key Responsibilities
Installation & System Start-Up
- Lead and perform residential and light commercial HVAC system installations including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, mini-splits, and related components
- Ensure proper sizing, layout, and installation of ductwork, piping, electrical, and refrigerant lines
- Perform system start-ups, testing, commissioning, and final quality checks to ensure optimal performance
- Verify installations meet manufacturer specifications, local codes, and company quality standards
Leadership & Team Oversight
- Lead, train, and mentor installation apprentices and junior installers
- Assign tasks, manage workflow, and ensure jobs are completed on schedule
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for installation crews
- Promote safety, efficiency, and professionalism on every job site
Customer Communication
- Communicate clearly with homeowners and business clients throughout the installation process
- Explain system operation, maintenance requirements, and warranty information upon job completion
- Maintain a professional, customer-first attitude at all times
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete installation paperwork, system documentation, and job reports accurately
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and refrigerant handling regulations
- Maintain accurate records of materials, equipment, and labor used
Safety & Equipment
- Enforce job site safety standards and proper PPE usage
- Maintain a clean, organized company vehicle and work area
- Safely operate and maintain all tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an HVAC technical training program, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience
- Valid EPA Section 608 Certification (required)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- 5+ years of HVAC installation experience a plus, with leadership or lead installer experience preferred
- Boiler and/or mini-split installation experience a plus
Required Skills & Abilities
Advanced HVAC Installation Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of heating, cooling, refrigeration, ductwork, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams

- Proven ability to lead crews, troubleshoot installation challenges, and make sound decisions on-site
- Adaptable to varying job conditions, system designs, and customer needs

Work Environment
Lead HVAC Installers work in residential homes and light commercial settings, both indoors and outdoors. This role may involve working in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and varying weather conditions. Schedules may include occasional evenings, weekends, or peak-season demands.
