Full Job Description

Overview:

We are looking for a part-time Prep Cook to help out 1-2 days/week this summer season at Sway Brewing + Blending in Baileys Harbor, Door County, WI.

Our team is comprised of long-term food and beverage career professionals across our brewery, taproom, bakery, and kitchen. We've recently been selected as finalists for the 2026 James Beard Awards for a national category in "Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program", which highlights beverage selection, creation, service, and pairing with food. Our work was also featured on CNN's Breaking Bread with Tony Shalhoub in 2025.

As Prep Cook, you will be working directly with our Head Chef who has over 12 years of experience working around the country/world in restaurants acknowledged by the James Beard Foundation, Michelin Guide, Good Food Guide, and World's 50 Best Restaurants.

Our Prep Cook will help prepping a wide range of vegetable ingredients, proteins, unleavened bread and pasta doughs, grains, and sauce recipes for our afternoon service.

We are looking for a highly motivated cook who is interested in learning, genuinely loves cooking, is able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, follows instructions, maintains keen attention to detail, and can contribute to our upbeat and convivial work culture without egoism. We’re more interested in strong motivation and positive attitude than existing skill, and we are willing to train the right candidate.

This position is part-time hourly, with competitive pay. We are looking for someone to work a maximum of 1-2 days/week through the end of summer, with potential hours in fall as well. The hours can be flexible based on other commitments (mornings, afternoon, night, etc.)

Qualifications:

Past experience working in a fast-paced, scratch kitchen (or similar).
Familiarity with food handling and safety regulations.
Ability to work effectively in a team without egoism.

We serve a full range of easy-drinking beers and feature collaborative food and bakery programs that highlight regionally sourced ingredients—all in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. We were recently selected as a semifinalist for a 2026 James Beard Award for "Outstanding Beverage Program", which highlights beverage selection, creation, service, and pairing with food.
