Full Job Description

Construction Safety Coordinator

Summary/Objective

Browning Contractors Inc. is a leading underground construction Company for the Central Valley. We are currently seeking a Safety Coordinator to bring on to our Safety team. Our Project Managers rely heavily on our Safety team to assist our Foreman and field personnel get the job done on time and in a safely manner, therefore it is vital that all applicants are eager to learn and work well in a team environment.

Essential Functions

· Ensure Federal, State and local safety regulations are being followed

· Conduct on-site job inspections to ensure/enforce all personnel is adhering to the Company’s health and safety program and OSHA standards; logging all injuries and incidents per OSHA regulations

· Observe and conduct safety audits, identifying unsafe working conditions by personnel using and adhering to the Company’s disciplinary policies, minimizing construction hazards

· Conduct damaged property/equipment investigations to the fullest extent, coordinating corrective measures and record accordingly for the HR Department

· Coordinate job starts with Project Managers to ensure that all training, PPE, and safety materials are utilized and implemented prior to start and proper document resources are posted on-site, if needed

· Educate, provide on-site guidance and/or coach personnel in first aid, trench safety and all safety training of internal/external personnel (Sub-Contractors)

· Facilitate in the development of additional health and safety strategies with a course of action while promoting Company goals

· Record/document job site safety meetings, trainings, inspections and citations, coordinating compliance reports with our Safety Team and HR Department

· Assist Foremen and Leadmen with weekly Tailgate and Toolbox safety meetings, understanding and planning potential hazards while ensuring all safety documentation is completed properly and turned in accordingly

· Other duties, responsibilities and activities, as assigned, may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

· Minimum of 3 years’ experience

· Experienced with Cal/OSHA safety regulations

· OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certified

· Knowledge in trench and excavating safety

· Well versed in construction background, evaluating safety and loss control

· Underground construction a plus

· OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certified

· Excellent communication skills and ability to work with all levels

· Time management, maintaining a detailed schedule servicing all Departments and/or job sites

· Superb organizational and problem-solving skills

· First Aid Certified

· Bilingual is a must

· Valid CA driver’s license with a clean record (Please submit DMV print out)

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works in extreme conditions near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, dust, electrical/gas hazards and blood borne pathogens.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. As part of our safety in the workplace policy, an offer of employment is subject to a negative drug screen result, as well as passing a Post-Offer Employment Agility Test
