Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting financial reporting processes. Your expertise in various accounting software and systems will help maintain accurate financial records, facilitate audits, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your accounting skills within a collaborative and growth-focused environment.

Duties

Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using financial software such as QuickBooks.
Conduct detailed data entry and analysis within spreadsheets and accounting systems to support month-end and year-end closing activities.
Assist with financial reporting in compliance with GAAP, including preparing reports for internal management and external auditors.
Support internal controls related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance by documenting processes and performing control testing.
Handle confidential financial information with integrity while maintaining strict data security standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving governmental accounting, public accounting standards, or technical accounting issues.

Skills

Strong knowledge of accounting principles such as GAAP and governmental accounting standards.
Experience working with multiple financial software platforms including Paychex, ADP, UltiPro, or similar systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and spreadsheet management.
Familiarity with accounting concepts like debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, account analysis, and journal entries.
Excellent numeracy skills combined with strong attention to detail for account reconciliation and balance sheet management.
Ability to handle accounts payable/receivable processes efficiently while providing excellent customer service internally and externally.
Knowledge of internal controls related to SOX compliance and experience supporting audit procedures.
