Adventist Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced physician leader to join our team as the Associate Program Director for our Internal Medicine Residency Program in Bakersfield, California. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the development and execution of our residency program, ensuring the highest standards of medical education, patient care, and professional development for our residents.
Tasked with helping ensure the success of the program’s aims and objectives, the Associate Program Director dedicates approximately 24 hours per week to residency training and administration while maintaining an active clinical practice. The role requires direct patient care responsibilities, continuous supervision of residents, mentoring, and hands-on teaching.

Major Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Program Director in the overall management and administration of the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
- Provide supervision, mentorship, coaching, and support to residents, helping them achieve their educational and career goals.
- Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and educational best practices.
- Coordinate and oversee resident clinical rotations, ensuring comprehensive and diverse clinical experiences.
- Facilitate didactic lectures, workshops, conferences, and other educational activities.
- Participate in resident recruitment, selection, onboarding, and evaluation processes.
- Assist in developing and implementing scholarly activities, research opportunities, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Engage in institutional committees and academic leadership activities as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with all ACGME accreditation requirements.
- Model excellence in clinical care through active participation in patient care activities.
Compensation/Benefits
Salary Range: $342,000-$378,000 (2yr guarantee)

Qualifications
Required
- MD or DO degree
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM)
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid and unrestricted California medical license
- One to three years of graduate medical education and/or administrative experience preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to resident education, mentorship, and clinical excellence
