Full Job Description

Fundamental Objective: The Bilingual (Child Abuse Treatment) CHAT Therapist under the general supervision of the Director of Client Services plans and provides direct mental health psychotherapy, crisis intervention, case management, and group therapy for child victims of abuse ages 17 and under and their families. The CHAT therapist provides working knowledge of community resources; and awareness and understanding of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. The CHAT therapist conducts child assessment as assigned, development of clients plans of care, and coordinates linkages to community resources.

Minimal Qualifications:

Masters’ in Social Work, Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field
2 years free of domestic violence
Completion of 80-hour Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault training within 2-weeks of hire
Valid California Driver’s License, car insurance and provide own transportation.
Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work weekend
Must be bilingual, multilingual a plus

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide individual, group and family psychotherapy to community children, and children residing in TODN shelters ages 17 and under who have witnessed a traumatic event, and/or experienced a form of trauma.
Screen children for the appropriateness of treatment; conducts biopsychosocial assessments, develops client-centered treatment plans.
Maintain a caseload size as deemed appropriate by TODN and all group therapy assignments.
Maintain a number of individual clients seen weekly as deemed appropriate by TODN.
Assists in the coordinating of activities for the Outreach Peer Counselor and/or Case Manager.
Maintains communication with other local service agencies for client referrals as needed.
Develops network of community resources and maintains liaison with these resources.
Assist in the provision of in-services and consultation to the multidisciplinary team of paraprofessional and professional staff on the team.
Keeps accurate, up-to-date records on client intakes, client files, statistical data, progress reports, progress notes, in-services, trainings, meetings, and presentations personally attended or provided.
Serves as a liaison with community agencies and schools.
Provide open assessments at a minimum of twice a month during weekend hours.
Attend weekly Clinical Supervision Meetings with LCSW.
Attend scheduled Counseling Meetings with the Manager and/or Director.
Perform other duties as assigned
