Patient Advocate/MA Receptionist – Surgical Team

Position Overview

Cirugía Sin Fronteras is seeking a high-performing Patient Advocate/Receptionist to join our fast-paced medical office. In this dynamic, dual-role position, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients while also acting as a key liaison between patients and healthcare providers.

You will manage front office responsibilities while ensuring patients successfully progress through their surgical journey. This is more than a traditional receptionist role, you are a key driver in making surgeries happen, working closely with providers to coordinate care and deliver a seamless patient experience.

As needed, you will also support Dr. Enriquez, a general surgeon, during monthly visits to our Nevada office by providing essential support.

Your Impact

You will play a critical role in both first impressions and patient outcomes by:

Creating a welcoming and efficient front office experience
Ensuring patients are properly scheduled, informed, and prepared
Helping move patients efficiently from consultation to surgery
Preventing gaps in care through proactive follow-up and coordination

Key Responsibilities

Reception

Answer and manage incoming phone calls in a professional and timely manner
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments for all three providers
Check in and check out patients accurately and efficiently
Verify patient information, insurance details, and required documentation
Maintain front office organization and ensure smooth daily operations
Provide a welcoming, professional, and patient-centered first impression

Patient Advocacy

Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, addressing concerns and guiding them through their care
Educate patients on procedures, treatment plans, and surgical processes with clarity and empathy
Advocate for patient needs and ensure they feel supported throughout their healthcare journey
Ensure patients complete all required steps for surgical clearance
Coordinate surgeries, diagnostics, referrals, and specialist appointments
Assist patients with accessing services and obtaining necessary documentation
Maintain HIPAA regulations

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Public Health, Medical Assisting, or related field (preferred)
2+ years of experience in a medical office, patient advocacy, or similar role
Strong EMR/EHR experience
Knowledge of medical terminology
40+ WPM
Bilingual (English/Spanish required)
