Full Job Description

Job Summary
The Church Food Service Manager serves to bring a spirit of excellence and Christian hospitality to all kitchen operations for Trinity UMC’s food ministry. This role requires non-standard hours to plan, prepare, and serve meals for about 45-125 people on every fourth Tuesday and every Wednesday with the possibility of additional events in accordance with the church programs calendar.

Essential Function:

1. As an integral member of the Trinity UMC ministry team, provide a welcoming environment for members and guests to gather, work and serve.

2. Budget, plan and supervise the menus, preparation, service, and clean-up of meals for church events.

3. Coordinate, in a timely manner, the scheduling of and supervision of all groups using the kitchen and Murrow Hall as a dining facility.

4. Maintain cleanliness and health standards of the kitchen, equipment, fixtures, and food storage in accordance with established guidelines, particularly government health standards.

5. Supervise and schedule kitchen volunteers and ensure they meet acceptable standards of quality, knowledge in use of kitchen equipment, cleanliness for work in food service and safety; and to ensure they serve diners efficiently (i.e., Wonderful Wednesday, funerals, receptions, and ministry events).

6. Inventory food and supplies, and order from reputable and licensed sources as needed.

7. Use and maintain commercial kitchen equipment (dishwashers, ice machines, warming units, commercial stoves and ovens, etc.), performing minor maintenance as required.

8. Provide monthly financial reports to the Church Administrator pertaining to Trinity UMC charge card purchases, disbursement or reimbursement forms.

9. Use the approved electronic app to record time worked.

Qualifications:

Minimum high school degree or equivalent
Two years’ experience running a large volume kitchen with knowledge of commercial kitchen health and safety regulations
Large volume meal planning, recipe creation, budgeting, and ordering
Supervision of kitchen employees/volunteers
ServSafe Manager certification preferred
Able to lift 35lbs
Ability to access and prioritize competing tasks and demands
Self-directed, highly motivated, flexible and positive

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
