Full Job Description

Job Summary

Water Works Car Wash is seeking a motivated and organized HR & Recruiting Intern to support our growing team across five Maryland locations.

This position will provide hands-on experience in recruiting, onboarding, employee training, HR administration, employee engagement, and organizational development.

The ideal candidate is someone who is highly organized, personable, comfortable communicating with employees and applicants, and interested in learning how human resources operates within a growing multi-location business.

This is a hands-on internship where the intern will have the opportunity to help build and improve real HR systems rather than simply perform administrative tasks. As an integral part of our HR department, you will support various recruiting initiatives, assist with candidate sourcing, and contribute to building a strong talent pipeline. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about human resources, eager to develop their skills in a fast-paced environment, and committed to fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key ResponsibilitiesRecruiting

Assist with recruiting for positions across all Water Works locations.
Create and post job advertisements on Indeed and other recruiting platforms.
Review applications and identify qualified candidates.
Communicate with applicants throughout the hiring process.
Schedule interviews with candidates and hiring managers.
Maintain accurate applicant and recruiting records.
Help track open positions and hiring progress.
Assist with recruiting events and outreach to local schools and colleges.

New Employee Onboarding

Assist with the onboarding process for new employees.
Prepare and organize new-hire paperwork.
Coordinate onboarding schedules.
Ensure new employees receive necessary information, uniforms, and resources.
Maintain onboarding checklists.
Track completion of required training.
Help new employees understand company policies and expectations.

Employee Training & Development

Help organize Water Works' employee training program.
Maintain training records for employees across all locations.
Coordinate completion of training videos and materials.
Help develop training checklists for different positions.
Assist in creating and updating SOPs and training materials.
Identify gaps in employee training and recommend improvements.

Employee Records & HR Administration

Maintain organized employee records and documentation.
Assist with updating employee information.
Track employee certifications and required documentation.
Assist with attendance and training records.
Prepare basic HR reports and spreadsheets.
Maintain confidentiality of employee information.

Employee Engagement

Help coordinate employee events and activities.
Assist with employee recognition programs.
Help organize company events and team-building activities.
Gather employee feedback through surveys and other methods.
Help improve communication between management and employees.
Assist with employee appreciation initiatives.

HR Projects

The intern will also have the opportunity to take ownership of projects designed to improve Water Works' HR systems, including:

Building a standardized onboarding process.
Creating employee training checklists.
Organizing the employee training portal.
Developing a recruiting and hiring process.
Creating employee recognition programs.
Developing employee surveys.
Organizing personnel records.
Creating HR dashboards and reports.
Helping develop SOPs for managers.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with candidates and team members
Knowledge of employment & labor law applicable to talent management practices
Demonstrated ability in research, relationship management, and social media marketing (recruitment) strategies
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Eagerness to learn about HR legal compliance, employee relations, and internal recruiting processes
