Part-Time Church Pianist / Worship Accompanist

Congregation: Living Water Lutheran Church

Location: Rosedale, MD

Denomination: Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod

Employment Type: Part-Time (Weekly Sunday Worship + 2-3 special evening services per year)

Compensation: $150.00 per service

Position Overview

Living Water is seeking a skilled and dependable part-time Pianist to lead and enrich our musical worship. The primary focus of this role is guiding the congregation through traditional liturgical elements and hymns. (Note: We do not have an organ; this position is strictly for a pianist).

Key Responsibilities

Traditional/Liturgical Leadership: Play and lead the congregation in 2–3 traditional hymns per service.

Service Liturgy: Accompany and guide the congregation through standard piano liturgy and spoken/sung congregational responses.

Optional Band Collaboration: Opportunity (but not required) to collaborate and play alongside our existing worship band for 2–3 contemporary songs during the service.

Special Services: Provide music for 2 to 3 special evening services throughout the liturgical year (e.g., Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, or Good Friday).

Qualifications

Strong proficiency in piano performance and sight-reading.

Experience (or comfort level) leading a congregation from the bench.

Reliable Sunday morning availability.

Optional: Comfort transitioning between traditional hymnody/liturgy and contemporary praise music styles is a plus, but not required.
