Full Job Description

Tranquility Woods is a premier co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment facility in Pasadena, MD. We're hiring Program Assistants to join our direct care team.

We're looking for someone who wants to do more than punch a clock.

About the role

Program Assistants are the staff members clients see most. You're in the milieu — the living, working environment of the program — for your entire shift. You'll be the first to notice when something changes with a client, the person who keeps the environment safe and steady, and the one who makes sure what you saw gets to the clinical team in time to matter.

This is hands-on work. It is not a desk role, and it is not observation from a distance.

What you'll do

Supervise and actively engage the client milieu throughout your shift
Complete safety checks and rounds at the time they are documented
Document shift observations accurately and completely before your shift ends
Orient new admissions and complete intake support tasks
Recognize and report changes in client presentation to nursing and clinical staff
De-escalate conflict and tension verbally, using program-trained techniques
Support scheduled groups and program activities
Transport clients to appointments and off-site activities as assigned
Give and receive a complete verbal and written handoff at every shift change

You don't need behavioral health experience

We mean that. Some of our strongest Program Assistants came from restaurants, retail, hospitality, caregiving, healthcare support, education, and other service work where you're on your feet, reading people, and solving problems in real time.

What we're hiring for is high functioning situational awareness, good discernment, good judgment, reliability, and the willingness to be trained.

Technology requirements

Able to use a tablet and cellphone

Physical requirements

Standing and walking for the majority of a shift (minimum of 6-8 hours)
Ability to respond quickly to incidents anywhere on the property, including stairs
Lifting requirement: 10-20lbs

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license — non-provisional (must have 3 years of licensed driving experience)
Able to commute reliably to Pasadena, MD 21122
Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
