Department: Clinical / Front Office
Reports To: Clinical Supervisor / Front Desk Lead
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant / Front Desk Float provides flexible support across both clinical and administrative functions within The Practice . This role ensures seamless patient flow by assisting in patient care areas and front office operations as needed, depending on daily staffing and workflow demands.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical Support

Assist with rooming patients, vital signs, and clinical intake
Support physicians and APPs during patient visits and procedures
Prepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness and supplies
Document patient information in the EMR

Front Desk Support

Perform patient check-in and check-out processes
Schedule and reschedule patient appointments
Answer incoming calls and route inquiries appropriately
Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information

General Responsibilities

Support smooth coordination between clinical and administrative teams
Assist with referrals, orders, and scheduling coordination
Ensure accurate and timely communication with patients
Maintain professionalism and patient confidentiality at all times

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

Preferred Qualifications

Medical Assistant training or certification preferred
Prior experience in a medical office or front desk setting preferred
Experience with EMR and scheduling systems preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

Strong adaptability and multitasking ability
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to transition between clinical and administrative tasks
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Team-oriented mindset with flexibility in assignments

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and move between clinical and front desk areas frequently
Ability to sit for extended periods during administrative tasks
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment

This role operates in both clinical and administrative areas of a gastroenterology practice. The position requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to shift priorities based on patient volume and operational needs.
