The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Maryland invites applications for a full-time academic plastic surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Based primarily at the internationally acclaimed R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, this position offers an exceptional opportunity to develop an academic career in craniofacial trauma and reconstruction, surgical education, and clinical research at one of the nation's busiest Level I trauma centers.
Our faculty provide comprehensive care for patients with facial fractures, complex craniofacial injuries, facial soft tissue trauma, and post-traumatic craniofacial deformities. The practice spans the full continuum of care—from acute injury management through secondary and tertiary reconstruction—offering a unique combination of high-volume craniofacial trauma, complex craniofacial reconstruction, and longitudinal patient care. The breadth and volume of the practice provide an excellent environment for developing expertise in craniofacial trauma while building a nationally recognized academic career.
In addition to the craniofacial trauma practice, faculty are encouraged and supported to develop an elective subspecialty practice aligned with their expertise and academic interests such as secondary craniofacial reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, facial reanimation, oculoplastic surgery, facial aesthetic surgery, or other areas that complement our mission.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the training of residents through the combined University of Maryland/Johns Hopkins Plastic Surgery Residency Program, with opportunities for mentorship, curriculum development, and medical student education. The Division fosters academic careers through multidisciplinary collaboration, investigator-initiated clinical and translational research, mentorship, and protected opportunities for scholarly development.
We seek an academically driven plastic surgeon with outstanding clinical judgment, technical excellence and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary trauma care. The successful candidate will be committed to advancing our mission through patient-centered care, education, innovation, and scholarly activity.
Qualified applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (BC/BE) and be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Maryland. Fellowship training in craniofacial surgery or significant experience in post-traumatic reconstruction is preferred but not required.
Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
Appointment will be at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level with non-tenure status and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s good faith belief at the time of posting.
