The job involves a somewhat faster-than-average pace and a lot of detailed, specialized work. The person in this position will receive clearly defined work, responsibilities, and reporting relationships. Training opportunities will be ongoing and thorough to develop expertise and increase confidence. Work will require competence, conscientiousness, and collaboration.

The position will provide security in a stable work environment, allowing the person to plan for, focus on, and complete tasks at hand. When changes in the nature of the work occur, the person will be provided with direction, training, and support. The position will generally be task-oriented, requiring someone with a conservative, careful, and cautious approach to work.

Job Characteristics:

Work is unambiguous and requires completing tasks from start to finish. The focus is on getting work done on time and correctly.
Must be extremely task-oriented, with a high standard of quality and accuracy.
Adheres to established guidelines and procedures, and exhibits a high degree of information-gathering before making decisions. Must be comfortable making decisions in the area of specialty or expertise.
Communication style is reserved, factual, formal, and sincere. Management may provide direction in areas outside of expertise.
Need for strong follow-through on delegated tasks and assignments. Leads by example, following established policies and procedures, with an expectation that others will do the same. Exhibits technical expertise in the area.

Applicant must prepare and submit a cover letter with no more than TWO paragraphs and a closing sentence. In the first paragraph, explain what you believe are the 3 most important qualities needed in someone who works with family law clients and why you believe they are the most important qualities. In the second paragraph, explain why you applied to this particular ad. As a closing sentence, please write, “I have read the instructions contained in the job posting and have followed the instructions.”

Compensation:

$90,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

Conduct legal research and analysis to support case preparation and strategy.
Draft, review, and edit legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, subpoenas, complaints, interrogatories, discovery requests, legal briefs, affidavits, and correspondence under the supervision of a lawyer.
Manage and organize case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions by organizing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and conducting research on legal articles.
Coordinate communication between clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
Maintain case calendars, tracking deadlines and filing requirements.
Review and manage incoming and outgoing discovery requests and responses.
Stay current with legal developments and changes in regulations relevant to the practice area.
Conduct client meetings and assist with client communications.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal in family law.
Paralegal certification from an accredited institution is preferred.
Proficient in legal research tools and software (Lexis), case management systems (Clio), and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding of legal ethics and confidentiality requirements.
Experience in handling discovery-related tasks.
Available to start immediately
