Program Director (LCSW, LMSW-CC, LCPC, LCPC-C)

Founded in 1940 by the Good Shepherd Sisters, Saint Andre Home provides trauma-engaged, strengths-based services for individuals and families impacted by human trafficking, exploitation, abuse, incarceration, substance use, and other life challenges. Through CourageLIVES, our Bangor-based community program, we provide counseling, case management, community support services, and basic needs assistance in a compassionate and collaborative environment.

We are seeking a full-time Program Director to provide leadership, supervision, and clinical support for CourageLIVES programming and staff.

This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, grounded, and adaptable who values collaborative leadership, trauma-engaged care, and community-based work that creates meaningful impact.

Position Overview

The Program Director oversees the day-to-day leadership and coordination of CourageLIVES services and programming, including staff supervision, clinical oversight, community collaboration, and limited direct counseling services.

The position supervises approximately [8] staff and/or contracted providers, including a case manager, clinician, peer support staff and program staff.

Approximate allocation of responsibilities:

● [40]% Clinical leadership and staff supervision

● [30]% Direct clinical services

● [20]% Community collaboration and outreach

● [10]% Administrative and operational coordination

This position maintains a limited counseling caseload of approximately 4 to 6 active clients.

Regular work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional evening community meetings or events.

Primary Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Staff Supervision

● Provide leadership and oversight for CourageLIVES programming and services

● Supervise and support a multidisciplinary team in a collaborative and trauma-informed environment

● Provide reflective supervision, mentorship, coaching, and professional development support

● Conduct regular staff check-ins and performance evaluations

● Support high-quality, strengths-based care and service coordination

● Facilitate staff meetings and interdisciplinary communication

Direct Clinical Services

● Maintain a limited counseling caseload for adults accessing mental health and behavioral health services

● Utilize trauma-informed, co-occurring, and person-centered approaches to care

● Support individuals impacted by trafficking, exploitation, trauma, mental health, substance use, abuse, or incarceration

● Coordinate referrals and collaboration with community providers and resources

Community Collaboration & Outreach

● Serve as a key point of contact for community partnerships and collaborative initiatives

● Represent CourageLIVES at meetings, trainings, and community events

● Support relationship-building with partner agencies and referral sources

● Assist with community education and outreach efforts

Administrative & Program Coordination

● Support program operations and documentation in collaboration with staff and leadership

● Assist with program coordination, reporting, scheduling, and organizational communication

● Support a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning program environment

Qualifications

● Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field

● Maine licensure as LCSW, LCPC, LMSW-CC, or LCPC-C

● Full licensure preferred but conditional licensure will be considered with relevant experience

● Experience supervising staff and/or interns preferred

● Experience working with trauma, substance use, behavioral health, or crisis-related services

● Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

● Commitment to trauma-informed, strengths-based, and relationship-centered care

● Ability to work collaboratively and adaptively in a community-based nonprofit setting

● Valid Maine driver’s license
