Full Job Description

The licensed clinical therapist plays a vital role in our treatment team, providing direct care and support to clients receiving substance abuse disorder treatment. The licensed clinical therapist leads implementing treatment plans, monitoring client progress, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.

Clinical Therapist

Implement and collaborate with clients developing individualized treatment plans that are strength-based and measurable.
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments using ASAM criteria and clinical interviews to evaluate a client’s mental health status.
Monitor client behaviors, symptoms, and progress, and report any significant changes or concerns to the treatment team.
Facilitate group therapy and individual psychotherapy, family therapy, focusing on topics related to substance abuse recovery, coping skills, and relapse prevention.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, treatment interventions, and progress notes in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Complete incident reports and other required documentation as necessary.
Monitor and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment by following established safety protocols and procedures.
Respond to crises, emergencies, or disruptive behaviors promptly and effectively, following established crisis intervention techniques and protocols.
Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary treatment team, including Behavioral Health Technicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care and aftercare.
Communicate openly and professionally with clients, families, and external stakeholders to provide updates, gather information, and facilitate care coordination.

Evaluate and diagnose mental health and relational issues, while considering multi-layered complexities like chemical dependency or trauma.
Operating with profound respect for diversity and maintaining rigorous professional boundaries, confidentiality, and legal obligations
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively with attention to detail.
Knowledge of substance abuse disorders, recovery principles, and therapeutic interventions.
Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with diverse groups of people.
Compassionate, patient-centered approach with a desire to help others achieve recovery and wellness.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, Dazos CRM systems, or related software.

Education and Experience:

Master’s or doctorate degree in psychology, social work, or related field is preferred.
Licensed to practice psychotherapy in the State of California.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a substance abuse disorder treatment setting or behavioral healthcare environment.

Physical Requirements:

Mobility:
Ability to stand, walk, and move around the treatment facility for extended periods.
Ability to navigate various areas of the facility, including client rooms, therapy rooms, and common areas, sometimes multiple times per shift.
Manual Dexterity:
Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or manipulate objects and equipment, including operating therapeutic tools, medical devices, and computer systems.
Ability to perform basic first aid procedures, such as applying bandages or assisting with minor injuries.
Visual and Auditory Abilities:
Ability to visually assess client behaviors, symptoms, and environmental safety.
Ability to hear and respond to alarms, calls for assistance, or verbal communication from clients and staff.
Communication:
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members both verbally and in writing.
Ability to convey information clearly and provide instructions, guidance, or assistance to clients as needed.
Stamina and Endurance:
Ability to maintain energy and focus during shifts and handle the emotional demands of the job.
Ability to manage stressful situations, remain calm under pressure, and adapt to changing environments or client needs.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
