Green River Distillery is located in Owensboro and is the 10th oldest distillery in the state producing more than 90,000 barrels of bourbon and rye for its own brands and partners. Job Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing the receipt, examination, and documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments, adhering to quality standards. This role involves handling and routing shipments, maintaining inventory of shipping materials, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. The Clerk will also assist with loading and unloading, coordinate with carriers, and perform administrative tasks to support efficient shipping and receiving operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Shipment Management:
-
Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments; reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shippers to resolve issues.

Create and manage shipping labels and information for outgoing shipments.

Determine the method of shipment using knowledge of procedures, routes, and rates.

Inventory and Supplies:
-
Maintain an inventory of shipping materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels at all times.

Assist in loading and unloading packages from delivery vehicles, trailers, and pallets.

Documentation and Records:
-
Perform computer functions to track deliveries and shipments, including creating organized shipping records such as statements of origin, shipping costs, products shipped, and receipt dates.

Maintain and update records related to shipping and receiving activities.

Communication and Coordination:
-
Coordinate with carriers for pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring efficient scheduling and handling of shipments.

Contact vendors and suppliers as needed to address any issues or requirements.

Administrative Duties:
-
Answer phones, update records, and provide excellent customer service.
-
Report defective materials or questionable package conditions to the department supervisor.

Maintenance and Safety:
-
Keep the work area and equipment clean, orderly, and in compliance with safety regulations.
-
Follow prescribed safety procedures and handle shipping materials responsibly.

Additional Duties:
-
Move and transfer materials to the appropriate departments or areas.
-
Assist with forklift and hand trolley operations as needed.
-
Support the company's ISO program, including adherence to quality and food safety standards.
-
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications/Requirements:
-
Minimum of two years of relevant experience in shipping and receiving.
-
Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
-
High school diploma or GED.
-
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
-
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
-
Basic computer and math skills.
-
Willingness to learn and operate forklifts and hand trolleys.
Physical requirements:
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met
by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job:

Must be able to stand; use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and occasionally required to climb or balance.

Must be able to work in high temperature environment.

Must be able to lift to 50 pounds on an occasional basis from floor to shoulder

Must be able to physically navigate around a plant/production environment, including the repetitive climbing of stairs and elevated walkways.
