Full Job Description

The Sandwich Public Schools is searching for a School Counselor - Grades 9-12 for the 2026-2027 school year at our Sandwich Middle High School. The School Counselor will report to the Principal.

A school counselor works to maximize student success, promoting access and equity for all students. As vital members of the school leadership team, school counselors create a school culture of success for all.

As a school counselor, you will help all students:

Apply academic achievement strategies.
Manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills.
Plan for postsecondary options (higher education, military, workforce).

Active duties include, but are not limited to:

Individual student academic planning and goal setting.
School counseling classroom lessons based on student success standards.
Short-term counseling to students.
Referrals for long-term support.
Collaboration with families/teachers/administrators/community for student success.
Advocacy for students at individual education plan meetings and other student-focused meetings.
Data analysis to identify student issues, needs, and challenges.
Acting as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement, and opportunities for all students.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited institution.
Valid DESE license as a School Counselor required.
Hold a valid Massachusetts SEI Endorsement OR Grade-level appropriate ESL License.
Must have experience and passion for working with students.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Plus the ability and initiative to work independently and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team including school educators, specialists, administrators, family and community partners and possess strong counseling/clinical skills and a passion for continued learning and professional development.

COMPENSATION: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement located on the Sandwich website.
