Full Job Description

Job Title: Firefighter/Paramedic
Department/ Division: Fire Department
Union Affiliation: IAFF Local No. 2122
Status: Full-Time
Pay Grade: EMTP/1
Hours Per Week: 42
Pay Rate: Starting $36.78 per hour, plus benefits

The Town of Yarmouth is now accepting applications for the position of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing emergency aid activities including administering first aid and resuscitation; delegate duties to Firefighter/EMTs; administer Advanced Life Support when required; performs triage and prioritizes medical needs of multiple patients; call for additional rescues when needed; communicate by radio or telephone to emergency room of local hospital. Perform emergency rescue and extrication work, in accidents involving elevators, machinery, motor vehicles and the like; search and remove persons from entrapment in buildings.

RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must be at least 19 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Possess a valid motor vehicle license.
Certification for Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic
Must be able to pass the Massachusetts Firefighter Physical Ability Test as well as a Fitness Medical Examination.
Candidates should have the ability to multi-task and maintain composure in stressful situations.

LATERAL TRANSFERS:

Credit for service at a career department of up to 10 years for base pay and vacation time
Must have attended a full-time fire academy
Pro Board Firefighter 1 and 2 Certification
