The Basalt Chamber of Commerce (BCC) is seeking a full-time Office Manager & Membership Relationship Coordinator to support the President/CEO, the membership, and the Board of Directors.
This in-person position plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Chamber, while engaging with members, community partners, and visitors. Working closely with the President/CEO, this position supports a wide range of responsibilities, including office administration, membership engagement, visitor services, and light bookkeeping. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, takes pride in their work, and communicates clearly and professionally. They enjoy working with people, building relationships, and contributing to a collaborative, community-focused organization. Occasionally early morning, evening, and weekend hours are required to support Chamber events.

As a staff of two, Chamber team members blend a “divide and conquer” and collaborative approach to execute work plans. This frontline role requires agility, organizational acumen, and exceptional interpersonal skills. Because our work follows seasonal rhythms and event schedules, flexibility is key—there is no “regular” day at the Chamber!
This position offers opportunities for professional growth, project ownership, and expanded leadership over time. Ultimately, the role evolves with the individual hired. There is potential to expand the job into a 40-hour-a-week role as organizational budget and needs allow.

The Basalt Chamber of Commerce (BCC) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit supporting the business community across the mid-Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. As a membership-based organization funded primarily through member dues, followed by lodging tax and dedicated grants, our work integrates three distinct, interconnected functions:
- Chamber of Commerce: Strengthening, educating, connecting, and advocating for our local business community.
- Economic Development (EDC): Supporting local, regional, and statewide initiatives that drive economic vitality and strengthen the workforce.
- Destination Marketing & Management (DMO): Promoting Basalt and the surrounding region while managing visitor center operations.
Supporting these three pillars is our operations function—the administrative and financial backbone essential to powering our mission.
Essential Job Duties
Chamber Membership & Business Community Engagement
- Act as a primary resource for members, guiding them through benefits, renewals, and involvement opportunities.
- Coordinate, promote, and manage the execution of Chamber events and programs (e.g., Business After Hours, annual meeting, workshops), handling registration, agendas, and on-site setup.
- Promote membership benefits and opportunities to prospective and existing members, including assist members with marketing and advertising needs
- Support member onboarding: review new applications, prepare welcome materials, and assist with annual renewal campaigns.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date member records and files in ChamberMaster in collaboration with the President/CEO.
- Prepare reports on membership and organizational activities as requested by the President/CEO.
- Serve as committee liaison: prepare agendas, attend meetings, take minutes, and track action items.
- Chamber Ski Pass season – assist with the verification of eligibility process, answer chamber member questions, ensure compliance with ASC program guidelines, and collect payment as needed.
Office Management & Visitor Services
- Serve as the primary point of contact in the reception area. Welcome visitors, answer phone calls, and respond to general email inquiries with warmth, professionalism, and local knowledge.
- Oversee day-to-day office efficiency: maintain common areas, order office supplies, coordinate food for meetings, and manage vendor relationships.
- Maintain and organize digital storage systems (Google Workspace, cloud/local drives) and physical filing systems.
- Maintain a professional, clean, and welcoming environment in the public visitor center and display areas.
- Develop and implement streamlined policies and procedures for tracking and responding to public/member inquiries.
Administrative & Bookkeeping Support
- Provide direct administrative assistance to the President/CEO, handling scheduling, correspondence, mailing/shipping packages, and special projects.
- Assist the President/CEO and external contracted bookkeeper with basic financial administrative tasks.
- Process incoming funds, member dues, and event fees; issue receipts; assist with AP/AR workflows; and facilitate remote bank deposits.
- Triage and appropriately escalate operational issues for timely resolution and minimal disruption.
Marketing and Communication
- Create, manage, and distribute electronic communications to members, including e-newsletters and event invitations using Constant Contact and ChamberMaster.
- Assist members with utilizing Chamber resources and media options to meet their advertising needs.
- Assist the President/CEO in developing engaging content for the Chamber website (WordPress), social media platforms, and local media buys.
- Prepare and distribute prospective and new member packets and promotional communications.
Qualifications & Skills
Required Qualifications
- Two+ years of experience in an office setting performing complex administrative functions, OR any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities;
- Proven background in customer-centric role – must have a passion for helping others and finding solutions, even under challenging circumstances;
- Proficient with computer technology, including standard office suites (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office), with an aptitude to learn new software and systems;
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to interact tactfully and professionally with staff, members, Boards, committees, government agencies, and the public. Must be able to use tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines;

Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Basalt community and mid-Roaring Fork Valley business landscape.
- Prior experience in a non-profit, public sector, or membership-based organization.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Advanced computer skills, including social media management, WordPress (CMS), and ChamberMaster/GrowthZone (CRM).
- Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Being bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus.
- Basic understanding of financial/bookkeeping administration.
- Experience developing or refining internal operational systems.
- Mac environment experience.
Schedule & Working Conditions
- Work Week: 32–35 hours per week (Benefits-eligible).
- Standard Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Set schedule to be determined between employee and supervisor (morning coverage preferred).
- Schedule Flexibility: Schedules flex seasonally to accommodate periodic event needs (such as evening Business After Hours events), with adjusted start/end times to compensate for evening hours.
- Location: 100% In-Office (Basalt, CO). Physical presence is required to serve members, visitors, and support operations.
- Physical Demands: Ability to sit/stand at a desk for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, and periodically lift/move up to 30 lbs for event setup and materials transport.
Compensation & Benefits
The Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers in the state of Colorado to disclose the following information.
Hiring Range: $25.00 – $30.00/hour (Starting pay rate within the range is determined by relevant experience, qualifications, skills, and internal equity).
Paid Time Off (PTO): ~70 hours of PTO annually based on a 35-hour workweek (prorated monthly/hourly accrual starting upon hire). PTO accrual rates increase with employee tenure.
Paid Sick & Wellness Leave (HFWA): Up to 48 hours annually (accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked).
Holidays: 11 Paid Holidays annually (aligned with regular work schedule).
Health & Wellness (QSEHRA): Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement after 60 days of employment. (Funds apply toward medical/dental premiums, copays, or IRS-approved health expenses).
- Single Allowance: $529.16/month
- Family Allowance: $797.91/month
