Position: Structural Steel Fabricator

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Structural Steel Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for fabricating structural steel components in accordance with shop drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
The Structural Steel Fabricator will work with beams, columns, plates, angles, channels, and other structural steel components to measure, lay out, cut, fit, assemble, and prepare materials for welding and final production.
The ideal candidate has experience in a structural steel fabrication environment, can accurately read shop drawings and blueprints, and takes pride in producing quality work safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, blueprints, fabrication drawings, and specifications.

Lay out steel components according to drawings and required dimensions.

Measure, mark, cut, drill, cope, grind, fit, and assemble structural steel.

Fabricate beams, columns, braces, plates, angles, channels, and other structural components.

Fit structural assemblies and components in preparation for welding.

Verify dimensions, hole locations, angles, elevations, and overall fit-up before welding or final assembly.

Operate fabrication equipment and hand tools, which may include saws, drills, grinders, torches, magnetic drills, ironworkers, and other shop machinery.

Perform welding and tack welding when qualified and required.

Use tape measures, squares, levels, combination squares, and other precision measuring tools.

Identify materials and components required for individual fabrication jobs.

Inspect completed work for dimensional accuracy and conformance with shop drawings and specifications.

Assist with material handling, staging, loading, and movement of structural steel throughout the facility.

Work closely with welders, machine operators, supervisors, quality personnel, and other members of the production team.

Maintain an organized and safe work area.

Follow established safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.

Report drawing discrepancies, material issues, equipment problems, and potential quality concerns to supervision.

Assist with other fabrication and production duties as required.
Required:
- Experience in structural steel fabrication, welding, metal fabrication, or a related industrial environment preferred.

Ability to read a tape measure accurately.

Ability to perform basic shop mathematics, including fractions and decimals.

Ability to understand measurements, angles, tolerances, and fabrication dimensions.

Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
-
Ability to work effectively as part of a production team.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Dependable attendance and ability to work assigned schedules and overtime when required.
Preferred:
- Previous structural steel fitting or fabrication experience.

Experience reading structural steel shop drawings.
-
MIG/FCAW/SMAW welding experience.
-
Experience with structural beams, columns, stairs, handrails, platforms, or miscellaneous metals.

Experience working in an AISC-certified or quality-controlled fabrication environment.

Forklift, overhead crane, or material-handling experience.
This position requires work in an industrial steel fabrication environment. Employees must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.

Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull.

Lift and carry materials, tools, and components weighing up to approximately 50 pounds independently and heavier materials with appropriate assistance or lifting equipment.

Safely work around welding operations, fabrication machinery, overhead cranes, moving materials, noise, sparks, and other conditions typical of a structural steel fabrication facility.

Wear required PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, gloves, welding protection, and other equipment as required.
