BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: To engineer, maintain, and optimize the District’s core server and storage infrastructure. The Server Infrastructure Specialist ensures the high availability, security, and performance of critical data center operations, ranging from virtualized server environments and enterprise storage to endpoint management and robust disaster recovery solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
-
High school diploma or GED required, with an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field preferred;
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Excellent oral and written communication skills in preparing reports, presentations, and documentation

Excellent analytical and problems solving skills

Ability to verbally translate and articulate complex technical issues for the advocacy of non-technical users

Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, work under pressure and independently complete assignments on schedule

Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and PC operating systems

Knowledge of modern endpoint management, including SCCM package creation, Intune mobile device

management (MDM), and software deployment maintenance.

Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPO)

Knowledge of Scripting language

Knowledge of network infrastructure and concepts

Experience with change control and incident management
Experience:

3–5 years of progressive experience maintaining and supporting Microsoft environments and Active Directory networks; CompTIA Server+, Network+
-
Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, or equivalent virtualization/backup
certifications preferred

Support of Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions:

Virtualization & VDI Orchestration: Administer, maintain, and support the scaling of the District’s virtual environment solutions and manage the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to provide seamless, high-performance remote access for staff and students.

Enterprise Storage Management: Administer maintain, and optimize high-capacity storage environments , including SAN, NAS, and Cloud solutions, ensuring data integrity, performance tuning, and efficient storage allocation for district-wide applications.

Server & OS Administration: Manage the full lifecycle of physical and virtual servers, including installation, configuration, hardening, and patching of Windows and Linux operating systems to maintain a secure and stable computing environment.

Endpoint & Systems Management: Configure, deploy, and manage device deployment and compliance policies using endpoint configuration tools, ensuring all district endpoints are securely managed, updated, and integrated into the infrastructure.

Data Protection & Disaster Recovery: Configure and oversee comprehensive backup strategies to guarantee business continuity; perform regular recovery testing and ensure the integrity of off-site and on-site backups.

Infrastructure Monitoring & Reliability: Analyze system performance data using monitoring tools to proactively track system health, remediate performance bottlenecks, and implement infrastructure scaling solutions, ensuring 24/7 operational reliability.

Specialized Mail Services: Manage and secure the District Mail Relay infrastructure, ensuring reliable automated communications from internal systems, printers, and applications.

Document all work performed and keep accurate inventory records

Handle multiple projects with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines

Perform advanced systems analysis to isolate and resolve complex engineering problems escalated by users; consult with management and vendors to implement root-cause fixes.

Create, maintain, and update technical manuals and documentation for district software; Design individual instructional modules, instructional materials, and training aides

Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed
