Position Purpose:

The Human Resources Coordinator is at the center of Aurora University's employee experience.

As one of the first people employees interact with throughout their employment journey, this role helps ensure every HR process—from onboarding and benefits administration to employment changes and offboarding—is delivered accurately, efficiently, and with exceptional customer service.

As part of the Office of People and Culture (OPC), you'll help keep the department running smoothly by coordinating HR operations, maintaining HR technology systems, supporting employee engagement initiatives, administering employment transactions, and ensuring compliance with critical HR processes. Your work will directly support faculty and staff while helping the university deliver an exceptional workplace experience.

Essential Job Functions:

As a Human Resources Coordinator, you'll help administer the operational side of Human Resources while supporting employees throughout the employment life cycle.

Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding activities, ensuring new employees have an outstanding start and departing employees experience a smooth and professional transition.
Administer personnel transactions including new hires, promotions, compensation adjustments, transfers, employment status changes, and separations while preparing employment documentation and maintaining accurate HR records.
Support benefits administration and HR programs through employee communications, system updates, and coordination of routine processes.
Maintain and optimize HR technology systems, including serving as a subject matter expert for NeoEd and Employee Navigator while leveraging technology and approved AI-enabled tools to improve operational efficiency.
Maintain employee records, HRIS data, compliance documentation, and workforce reports with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and first-year employee experience activities that contribute to a positive workplace culture.
Assist with departmental operations by supporting payroll processing, budget administration, compliance activities, and operational reporting.
Monitor required HR compliance activities, including workplace postings, required training completion, employment records, and other administrative compliance responsibilities.
Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and operational efficiency while supporting continuous improvement across the Office of People and Culture.
Partner with colleagues across campus to deliver responsive, accurate, and people-centered HR services.

Essential Job Requirements:

Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
2-3 years of related administrative or Human Resources experience.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Demonstrated technology aptitude, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn HR systems and emerging workplace technologies.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.

Skills:

Preferred Qualifications

Human Resources experience supporting onboarding, benefits administration, HR operations, or employment records.
Experience working with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, or benefits administration platforms.
Experience using business software and technology to improve efficiency and workflow.
Higher education or nonprofit experience.

The pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted amount the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The final pay rate will not be below the lowest pay rate listed herein.

Tuition Assistance
Tuition assistance for AU undergraduate courses is available to eligible employees and eligible family members beginning the term following one (1) year of regular, full-time employment. Tuition assistance for graduate programs paid at 60% for employee following Senior Leadership approval.
Tuition Exchange Consortiums
AU is a member of the Tuition Exchange (TE) and the Council of Independent Colleges Tuition Exchange Program (CIC-TEP) enabling full-time employees and eligible family members to be eligible for tuition assistance at more than 600 universities nationwide. Eligibility for the CIC-TEP and TE programs is one (1) year of regular, full-time employment as of 8/31.
