GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily quality assurance and inspection activities for machine shop and foundry operations to ensure products meet customer specifications, engineering standards, and internal quality requirements. The ideal candidate is hands on, detail oriented, technically proficient in metrology and CMM programming.
This position leads inspection processes and provides coaching to production employees regarding product quality. The Quality Supervisor works closely with engineering and customer service teams to maintain product integrity, supports ISO 9001 compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Quality Inspection & Metrology
- Develop, implement, and maintain inspection programs using Mitutoyo MCOSMOS v4.2 software.
- Program, operate, and troubleshoot Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to support production and quality requirements.
- Measure and validate new article products, and production first – piece, in process, and final outgoing products.
- Utilize hand measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, bore gauges, and other metrology equipment to supplement validation checks.
- Review inspection data and ensure compliance with customer specifications, blueprints, and engineering requirements.
Equipment, Calibration & Documentation
- Maintain, calibrate, and verify laboratory and production equipment and fixtures to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Manage calibration schedules and maintain records for inspection and measuring equipment.
- Develop, document, and maintain measuring instructions, quality standards, and inspection procedures.
- Document process changes, inspection updates, and quality requirements to support consistency and compliance.
Leadership & Training
- Supervise and support quality inspection activities across foundry and machine shop operations.
- Train production employees on measuring methods, inspection requirements and quality requirements.
- Assist in identifying training gaps and support employee development related to quality processes.
Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Support and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 quality management system requirements.
- Participate in internal audits, corrective actions, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Interface with multiple departments including production, engineering, maintenance, shipping, and leadership to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.
- Support customer inquiries and investigations related to quality concerns, corrective actions, and product performance.
- Assist in reducing scrap, rework, and customer complaints through proactive quality measures.
- Support implementation and use of quality tools and methodologies including process control and inspection planning.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERINCE:
- CMM Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of CMM programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to interpret 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
- GD&T Knowledge: Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Math Skills: Strong mathematical and geometry skills for dimensional calculations and validation checks.
- Education: Technical degree in manufacturing, quality, engineering technology, or related technical discipline.
- Experience with Mitutoyo MCOSMOS and MiCAT (Mitutoyo Intelligent Computer Aided Technology) software.
- Experience using Modular 3D Scanning Arm technology.
- Familiarity with AIAG Core Tools including PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and MSA.
- Experience supporting or maintaining ISO 9001 certification.
- Previous experience in a machining, or metal manufacturing environment preferred.
- ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel) experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, and move throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to work in a production and manufacturing environment including exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
