Our school is looking for a special person to join our small, nurturing infant community.
We are intentionally looking outside the traditional daycare box for this position.
Our ideal candidate may come from a background in postpartum doula work, newborn care, professional nannying, lactation/breastfeeding support, or other infant-focused care. If your favorite age is tiny humans and you understand just how much is happening during that first year of life, we want to meet you.
A Different Kind of Infant Care!
This is a team position. You will work alongside another infant guide in a small Montessori environment, allowing us to provide highly individualized, responsive care rather than a large-group childcare approach.
We are especially looking for someone who loves the more natural, relationship-centered side of infant care:
Building secure, consistent relationships with babies
Supporting and building relationships with postpartum mothers and families Understanding breastfeeding, pumping, bottles and feeding cues.
Responsive caregiving rather than rigid schedules
Infant-led rhythms and respectful routines
Floor time, freedom of movement and natural motor development
Tummy time and developmental milestones
Reading babies' cues and responding thoughtfully
Creating calm, peaceful environments
Supporting parents through the enormous transition of baby's first year
Respecting each baby's individual temperament, needs and development
Montessori experience is NOT required.
We can teach you Montessori.
What is much harder to teach is that natural ability to break away from very traditional views and practices in day care infant classrooms. To understand babies, connect with new parents, remain calm in an infant environment, and recognize what a baby is communicating before they have words.
