Ensolum, LLC (Ensolum) is seeking an Industrial Hygiene Technician to support the execution of industrial hygiene projects from our Greater Baton Rouge, Louisiana office.
The Industrial Hygiene Technician will support a variety of industrial hygiene and environmental projects, with a primary focus on clients in the petrochemical, refining, chemical manufacturing, and related industrial sectors. Responsibilities may include personal exposure monitoring, industrial hygiene surveys, air monitoring, asbestos and lead assessments, indoor air quality investigations, water damage and mold assessments, and other occupational health and exposure assessment activities.
The successful candidate will be a team-oriented individual with a strong interest in industrial hygiene and occupational health who is capable of learning and applying technical procedures in a variety of industrial environments. The Industrial Hygiene Technician will work closely with Ensolum Industrial Hygienists, Project Managers, Principals, and clients to successfully execute field activities and support the completion of project deliverables. All work will be performed under the oversight of an Ensolum Certified Industrial Hygienist.
Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to perform hands-on fieldwork safely and effectively. The position will primarily involve field work at industrial facilities throughout Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, along with office-based administrative, data management, and project support responsibilities.
Job Requirements & Responsibilities
- Support Industrial Hygienists and Project Managers in the successful completion of industrial hygiene projects.
- Conduct field activities including personal and area air monitoring, industrial hygiene surveys, and exposure assessments under the direction of project personnel.
- Set up, operate, calibrate, and maintain industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring equipment.
- Collect, document, and properly handle air, surface, bulk, and other environmental samples.
- Maintain accurate field notes, sampling records, chain-of-custody documentation, and other project records.
- Assist with data entry, organization, tabulation, and review of industrial hygiene and environmental data.
- Support preparation of technical reports, tables, figures, and other project deliverables.
- Work safely and effectively within active petrochemical, refining, chemical manufacturing, and other industrial facilities.
- Follow established sampling protocols, standard operating procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and develop positive relationships with clients, coworkers, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with project personnel and clients regarding field activities and project requirements.
- Maintain equipment and ensure sampling supplies are properly inventoried and prepared for field activities.
- Travel throughout Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region as needed to support project requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Toxicology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 0–3 years of relevant professional experience; entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong interest in industrial hygiene, occupational health, and environmental consulting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document field activities and data.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in the field while following established procedures and direction from senior personnel.
- Ability to work safely in industrial environments and comply with client and Ensolum safety requirements.
- Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Legally authorized to work full-time in the United States.
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential.
- Ability to successfully complete required drug and alcohol screening and, where applicable, background and driving record screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in industrial hygiene, environmental consulting, occupational health and safety, or a related field.
- Experience working in petrochemical, refining, chemical manufacturing, oil and gas, or other heavy industrial environments.
- Experience with air sampling, exposure monitoring, or environmental sampling.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Louisiana Asbestos Inspector or other applicable asbestos credentials.
- OSHA 10- and/or 30-hour General Industry or Construction training.
- Familiarity with applicable OSHA, EPA, LDEQ, and other federal and Louisiana regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with the Greater Baton Rouge industrial corridor and Louisiana's petrochemical industry.
