Full Job Description

Development Director

Summary:
The Development Director plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates ongoing fundraising projects in support of St. Lillian Academy’s mission, vision and strategic plan. Responsible for all aspects of fundraising including individual, corporate, and foundation fundraising through individual solicitations, special events, and corporate sponsorships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Move St. Lillian Academy Development Plan from draft to realization.
● Prepare a strategic plan for philanthropy based on the strategic plan and budget of the organization.
● Develop and maintain relationships with the philanthropic community, individual and corporate donors, sponsors, board members and volunteers.
● Be prepared to plan and lead a capital campaign, as needed, when the school growth plan is executed - Anticipated start January 2023.
● Plan, administer, implement and refine all fundraising activities including CHEERS FOR

CHILDREN, and ANNUAL IMPACT CAMPAIGN.
● Research, cultivate and solicit individual donors, corporate sponsorships, and major gifts, working with the Head of School and Board of Directors, as appropriate.
● Speak at meetings within the community to let people know about St. Lillian Academy and their mission.
● In collaboration with Head of School (program content) and General Manager (financial tracking), manage grants: identify corporate, foundation and government grants; follow-up after grant has been submitted.

● Compile and analyze information about potential contributors to develop mailing or contact lists.

● Update and maintain, with the Head of School and Board of Directors, a case for giving.
● Manage database program, currently Salsa Labs.
● Maintain accurate records of expenses incurred and contributions received.
● Work with graphic designer (parent, Chanler Holden) to develop and print fundraising brochures for mail solicitation programs and other support materials.
● In collaboration with a marketing partner (JCW / A Creative Agency) manage the website by communicating updated news and information for the donation page.
● Create quarterly newsletter and annual reporting format for organization
● Manage social media promotions as appropriate for school mission/vision and achievements

Qualifications:
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
● Knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies.
● Ability to independently manage fundraising database, Salsa Labs
● Detail oriented and highly organized.

● Ability to build rapport with donors, volunteers, and the general public with diplomacy and discretion.

● Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities and a diverse workload, while achieving results.

● Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with the public, staff at all levels, and board members in a personable and professional manner.

● Must pass a background check.

Education and/or Experience:
● Undergraduate degree required. Specialized training or certification in fundraising/development is a plus.

Computer Skills:
● Proficient in Salsa Labs (or similar donor management software)
● Willing to learn and work in Google Drive (g-suite)

Job Type:
● Variable, 3 - 5 days/week
