As a new Maintenance Fabricator at Barrett Petfood, you can expect a dynamic day filled with engaging activities focused on maintaining and troubleshooting our machinery. Each day will involve conducting regular inspections, performing preventive maintenance, and addressing any equipment issues to ensure smooth operations. You’ll collaborate closely with other team members, reporting on maintenance tasks and participating in innovative problem-solving discussions. It's essential to stay customer-centric, as your work directly impacts production efficiency and product quality. Your expected schedule will be Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.

Experience in cutting, fitting and assembling metal components, including using plasma cutters or oxy-acetylene torches.

Expert knowledge of MIG and TIG welding processes.

Ability to use precision measuring tools like tape measures, calipers and gauges to check tolerances.

Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on equipment such as conveyors, grinders, mixers, mills, elevators, and packaging systems.

Daily checks of motors, bearings, chains and belts on conveyors

Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues and perform timely repairs

Maintain facility systems including boilers, compressors, HVAC, and utilities as required

Assist with installation, modification, and commissioning of new equipment

Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production issues

Work closely with production teams to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime

Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend corrective actions.

Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.

Electrical knowledge including but not limited to single phase 120V, three phase 480V, and 24VDC power systems
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the factory.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
