ENTRY LEVEL FIREFIGHTER-PARAMEDIC EXAMINATION
The City of Bay Village will hold a competitive examination for the position of Firefighter-Paramedic: September 16, 2026 at 6:00pm
Dwyer Memorial Center, 300 Bryson Lane, Bay Village, OH 44140.
You will be required to present your driver’s license for admission to the exam.

STATEMENT OF DUTIES This position is responsible for providing services related to fire suppression, medical emergencies, hazardous materials and other natural and/or manmade emergencies, fire prevention and inspections, search and rescue, fire scene investigations, care and maintenance of departmental equipment, grounds and facilities and code compliance and enforcement.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE EXAMINATION AGE: 18-32 years of age at time of appointment. EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
CITIZENSHIP: U.S. Citizen or proof of intent (must be a U.S. Citizen when appointed)

Prior to appointment applicants must successfully complete a background investigation, polygraph investigation, psychological examination, physical examination, oral interview(s), pre-employment drug and nicotine screening, and must possess a current, valid Firefighter Physical Agility Test Certificate from Cuyahoga Community College with a time limit of four (4) minutes. Applicants must successfully pass a swimming test: time, date, and location to be determined by the Fire Chief.

Probationary Firefighter/EMT $68,477
Firefighter/Paramedic less than 1 year $69,624
Firefighter/Paramedic after 1 year $76,926
Firefighter/Paramedic after 2 years $86,469
Firefighter/Paramedic after 3 years $97,732

ADDITIONAL CREDIT To be eligible for additional credits, you must provide the following documentation when submitting your application: (Shall not exceed a total of ten (10) points)
1. State Fire Training II Certification or Associate Degree in Fire Science Proof of certification or education must be submitted with application. (5 points)
2. State Paramedic Certification. A copy of your certification must be submitted with application. (5 points)
3. Honorably Discharged veteran having served at least one continuous year of active military service in the Armed Forces of the United States. A copy of your DD214 must be submitted with application. (5 points)
