Full Job Description

Job Description

We are searching for an experienced and enthusiastic butcher with a minimum of 2 years experience in whole carcass breakdown.The ideal candidate will have strong knife skills and practice high standards of food safety and cleanliness as well as knowledge and experience creating value-added products like sausages and smoked meats. We are looking for someone who is excited to be working with locally raised heritage breed animals and developing a whole carcass meat program with us.

Requirements:

2 + years experience cutting and deboning whole carcasses of pork, beef, lamb and chicken
Excellent knife skills with a proven track record in whole animal meat cutting anatomy + technique is necessary.
Experience using sharp knives, bandsaws and other processing equipment.
Physically fit, with the ability to lift 100 + lbs and to stand for long periods
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and best practice standards within the food industry
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to understand, speak and read English
Highly organized and detail oriented
Able to problem solve when troubleshooting scenarios arise
Self motivated and able to work independently while having a collaborative spirit

Company Description

Moomaw Family Farm is a pastured-meat CSA offering meat subscriptions to the Portland Metro Area since 2013. We partner with local farms to offer humanely and sustainably raised meats to our 600 members. We are expanding our farm business and are in the process of opening a butcher shop in Gladstone OR, where we will break down whole animal carcasses into retail cuts and added-value products to be sold to our membership and through a retail store front.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
