Full Job Description

Farmers and Mechanics Mutual Insurance Company has been serving policyholders throughout West Virginia since 1877. As a trusted provider of property and casualty insurance, we are committed to delivering exceptional service and reliable protection to our customers.

We are currently seeking an experienced Property Claims Field Adjuster to join our team in a remote/home-based role serving the Southeastern West Virginia area.

Position Summary

The Property Claims Field Adjuster is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving assigned property claims in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable state regulations. This position requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently while providing outstanding service to policyholders.

Property Insurance Claims Field Adjuster Key Responsibilities

Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve property claims in a timely and professional manner.
Conduct on-site inspections of damaged properties within the assigned territory.
Determine the nature, cause, and extent of property damage.
Safely access all areas of impacted structures as necessary to complete inspections.
Prepare detailed repair estimates using company-approved estimating software.
Analyze policy coverage and make appropriate claim determinations.
Coordinate and manage the services of independent adjusters, contractors, engineers, and other vendors when needed.
Manage litigation-related claim activities, including working with legal counsel and attending mediations, hearings, or trials as required.
Maintain accurate claim documentation and ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Property Insurance Claims Field Adjuster Qualifications

Previous property claims adjusting experience is required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and effectively manage a caseload.
Proficiency with estimating software and standard computer applications.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory and conduct field inspections.
Must maintain a dedicated home office workspace.
