About the Position
A growing closed-door, digital, specialty and 503A compounding pharmacy in Richardson, Texas is seeking a licensed Staff Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team.
This is a hands-on pharmacist position focused on prescription review, verification, dispensing, medication safety, and supporting an accurate and efficient pharmacy workflow.
Unlike a traditional retail pharmacy, our pharmacy does not have a retail storefront or continuous face-to-face customer traffic. Our pharmacists work in a collaborative, closed-door environment focused on safely and efficiently processing, preparing, verifying, and dispensing prescriptions for shipment to patients.
Previous compounding experience is not required. Candidates with experience in compounding, specialty, mail-order, or closed-door pharmacy environments are encouraged to apply, but we are also interested in qualified pharmacists from other pharmacy settings who are interested in transitioning into this type of practice.
The Staff Pharmacist reports to pharmacy leadership and works closely with other pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, compounding personnel, fulfillment staff, and other members of the pharmacy team.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, interpret, and verify prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness.
- Perform pharmacist verification and dispensing responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Evaluate prescriptions for appropriate dosing, allergies, drug interactions, contraindications, duplications, and other medication-related concerns.
- Exercise professional judgment to identify and resolve prescription discrepancies and clinical issues.
- Communicate with prescribers when clarification or intervention is necessary.
- Provide patient counseling and medication information when required or appropriate.
- Review and verify compounded preparations prior to dispensing.
- Provide pharmacist oversight of pharmacy technicians, technician trainees, interns, and support personnel as appropriate.
- Support efficient daily prescription workflow and timely order completion.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacy technicians, compounding personnel, fulfillment staff, and other pharmacists.
- Maintain accurate prescription records and required pharmacy documentation.
- Assist with medication inventory, storage, expiration management, recalls, and controlled substance requirements as applicable.
- Follow established pharmacy procedures, quality standards, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in quality assurance, medication safety, and continuous improvement activities.
- Support implementation of pharmacy technology, workflow improvements, and new pharmacy services as needed.
- Maintain all required pharmacist licenses, registrations, and continuing education requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy.
- Active, unrestricted Texas Pharmacist license.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy practice, medication safety, and applicable pharmacy regulations.
- Sound clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to prescription accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality and patient safety.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other pharmacy personnel.
- Ability to work on-site in Richardson, Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
The following are preferred but not required:
- Previous 503A or other compounding pharmacy experience.
- Non-sterile compounding experience or familiarity with compounded medications.
- Familiarity with USP <795> and USP <800>.
- Previous specialty, mail-order, digital, central-fill, or closed-door pharmacy experience.
- Active pharmacist licenses in additional U.S. states.
- Experience with pharmacy management systems, electronic prescribing platforms, and pharmacy workflow technology.

You do not need previous compounding experience to be successful in this position. We value pharmacists who are willing to learn our pharmacy processes, systems, compounded medication offerings, and established procedures.
Pharmacy Environment
This position is located within a closed-door specialty and 503A compounding pharmacy serving patients through a digital/mail-order model.
There is no traditional retail storefront or continuous walk-in customer traffic. The pharmacy environment is focused on prescription processing, medication preparation, pharmacist verification, fulfillment, and shipment.
This provides a different working environment from traditional retail pharmacy while still requiring strong pharmacist judgment, accuracy, productivity, and commitment to patient safety.
Schedule
This is a full-time, on-site position.
Regular Schedule:
- Monday–Friday: 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
- Rotating Saturdays: 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
The position is not remote or hybrid. Some schedule flexibility may occasionally be required based on staffing and pharmacy operational needs.
Compensation
$105,000–$115,000 per year
Starting compensation will be determined based on pharmacist experience, relevant pharmacy experience, additional state licensure, and overall qualifications.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position is performed primarily within a licensed pharmacy environment and may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, and computer-based work.
The employee must be able to safely handle medications and pharmacy supplies and occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.
