Full Job Description

Job Description: Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center is looking for a full-time, reliable Veterinary Assistant to work closely with our Specialty departments. The Technician Assistant’s job description will include but not limited to: cleaning and wrapping of surgical instruments, proper sterilization of surgical instruments, assist with set up of O.R.'s, assist with patient induction, responsibilities inside the O.R. suite, circulating for surgical cases, patient restraint, assist with treatments on hospitalized patients, processing of laboratory samples, maintenance and cleanliness of facility and equipment, facilitating patient visitation and assistance with radiographs. Helping in assisting in other areas of the Specialty departments as well.

AVES Central Sterile department co-manages patients with our other specialty services including Surgery, Neurology, The Oncology Group, Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Diagnostic Imaging, Cardiology, and Anesthesia. The technician assistants help support AVES’s goals of providing 24/7/365 services to the veterinary community by contributing to holiday coverage and occasional coverage in other departments.

Requirements: Applicants should have a minimum of one year of experience in the Veterinary field, have a strong desire to work with animals in a hospital setting, be able to walk and stand for extended periods and lift and carry 50 lbs.
