Full Job Description

Honest Property Management (HPM) is a property manager in Central Maine providing service to tenants and property owners for over 200 residential units. We take deep pride in our quality of service, client and tenant retention, friendliness, and communication. We are looking for a highly talented and motivated Bookkeeper to join our incredible team.

Key Responsibilities

Process all billing for property manager clients in AppFolio property management software
Entering credit card transactions; Pay and reconcile the credit card statement
Process and pay third-party vendor invoices
Process and pay invoices from our in-house maintenance department
Work with property managers to identify and obtain receipts for all charges
Reconcile bank accounts monthly
Collect monthly management and ancillary management fees
Update tenant ledgers and answer tenant questions about their accounts; this includes processing of late fee appeals, adjusting prorated rent charges, managing security deposit balances, etc
Send monthly owner financial packets
Enter and reconcile transactions for HPM corporate books in Quickbooks
Track HPM corporate financial KPIs
Complete audits to ensure all balances are tied out and compliant with trust accounting responsibilities and compliance requirements

Required Qualifications

At least 5 years of bookkeeping experience
Proficient with Quickbooks and Excel
Adequate remote work set up: 10+ Mbps high speed internet connection at minimum, but prefer 15 Mbps or more. Work computer must be a desktop or very fast laptop, running Windows 8 or newer. It must have at least 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of free hard drive space.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with trust accounting
Experience in real estate or property management
Experience using AppFolio

Working Hours

This will be a remote position. Hours are Monday – Thursday 8:30am-5pm EST and Fridays 8:30am-4pm EST with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and two paid 15-min breaks.
