Help Build New York's Premier Boutique Business Litigation Firm
At Alisme Law, we believe exceptional legal service begins with exceptional operations.
We represent businesses, business owners, partners, and shareholders in complex business disputes. Our clients trust us because we make sense of complexity through disciplined systems, thoughtful strategy, and consistent execution.
As our Firm continues to grow, we are intentionally building an organization that is every bit as exceptional operationally as it is legally.
We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to serve as the operational leader of our Firm. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys building teams, developing leaders, improving systems, and creating an organization where people consistently perform at a high level.
If you are energized by building organizations, not simply managing them, we would love to meet you.
Where We Are Going
Alisme Law has built a strong reputation for helping clients navigate complex business disputes. Our next chapter is focused on building a scalable organization capable of sustained growth while maintaining the personalized service, professionalism, and trust our clients expect.
Over the next several years, we will continue to strengthen our leadership team, refine our operating systems, and invest in our people so the Firm can grow intentionally without sacrificing its culture or client experience.
We are entering an exciting stage of growth. Our Firm has built a strong foundation and is now investing in the leadership, systems, and infrastructure necessary to support our next phase. The Director of Operations will inherit responsibility for leading our administrative team while helping build the management structure, operational processes, and organizational capacity needed for sustained growth.
We are looking for an operational leader who is excited to help build that future.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Owner, you will lead the Firm's day-to-day business operations by developing people, strengthening accountability, improving systems, and ensuring operational excellence across the organization.
This is not an office manager position. It is a senior leadership role for someone who enjoys coaching people, improving organizations, solving operational challenges, and building high-performing teams.
While the Owner establishes the Firm's strategic direction, the Director of Operations is responsible for leading the execution of that vision through people, systems, and operational discipline.
Your First-Year Priorities
During your first year, your primary focus will be to build the operational foundation for the Firm's next stage of growth.
Build a High-Performing Team
Recruit, onboard, develop, and coach exceptional people. Create a culture where every team member understands expectations, receives regular feedback, and is held accountable to measurable standards.
Build a Scalable Operating Model
Strengthen the Firm's operating systems by documenting and improving core processes, implementing meaningful KPIs, establishing consistent meeting rhythms, and ensuring operational excellence across the organization.
Deliver an Exceptional Client Experience
Improve the operational systems that support the client journey, from intake through matter completion, by creating consistency, responsiveness, and professionalism at every stage.
What You Will Own
To accomplish these priorities, you will lead the Firm's business operations, including:
- People Operations
- Business Operations
- Client Experience
- Operational Finance
- Technology and Vendor Management
Your success will be measured not by how much work you personally complete, but by how effectively the organization performs under your leadership.
Decision-Making Authority
We believe leadership requires both responsibility and authority.
Within established budgets, policies, and strategic objectives, you will have the authority to:
- Lead, coach, evaluate, and hold administrative team members accountable while ensuring firm-wide compliance with the Firm's operational systems, policies, and performance standards.
- Recommend hiring, promotions, compensation adjustments, and terminations.
- Manage recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
- Improve and implement operational systems, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
- Select and manage vendors and recommend technology solutions.
- Establish and monitor operational KPIs and management reporting.
- Resolve day-to-day operational issues independently.
- Lead strategic operational initiatives from planning through implementation.
The Owner retains responsibility for legal strategy, client representation, annual budgeting, pricing, compensation strategy, and other major strategic decisions.
As you develop a deep understanding of the Firm, earn the Owner's trust, and build a strong operational foundation, the Owner intends to progressively delegate responsibility for the Firm's day-to-day operations. The long-term vision is for the Director of Operations to lead the Firm's business operations, allowing the Owner to focus primarily on legal strategy, client relationships, business development, and the Firm's long-term growth.
Operational Financial Leadership
You will oversee the Firm's operational financial processes by ensuring disciplined billing, timekeeping, collections, trust replenishment, operational reporting, and KPI management.
You will partner closely with the Owner and the Firm's outside accounting professionals on budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and business planning. While you will play an important role in supporting the Firm's financial health, responsibility for financial strategy remains with the Owner.
Client Experience
The Director of Operations owns the systems and processes that support an exceptional client experience. This includes intake, onboarding, communication standards, service workflows, billing experience, and client feedback systems.
You will work in partnership with the Owner to continuously improve the client experience while recognizing that legal strategy and attorney-client representation remain the responsibility of the Firm's attorneys.
The Director is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and improving the Firm's operational standards across all personnel. Attorneys remain responsible for legal judgment and client representation, while the Director oversees compliance with the Firm's operational systems and procedures.
