Electrical Design Engineer
(Lighting & Power Distribution)

Bowman, Foster and Associates, Inc. (BFA) is seeking an energetic and motivated Electrical Designer to add to our Electrical Department.

Required Skills and Experience:

2+ Years of Electrical (Power Distribution and Lighting) Design Experience
Excellent verbal, written, computer, technical data, spreadsheet, and presentation communication and organizational skills.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Experience in managing electrical design projects in the commercial, healthcare, state, local, and federal sectors.

LEED, Green Globes, CPD, CEM or other industry credentials
Proficiency in the following computer applications:
- AutoCAD 2022
- Autodesk Revit
- SKM PowerTools
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Roles and Responsibilities:

Design and develop electrical systems and components based on customer or project specifications, safety requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
Perform calculations and simulations to determine system requirements, capacity, and efficiency.
Collaborate with project managers, and technicians to ensure project goals are met and deadlines are adhered to.
Technical coordination and communication within the department, as well as between other departments, Project Managers, and leadership
Manage and complete multiple tasks in a timely, cost-effective manner.
Stay up to date with the latest technologies, trends, and developments in the field of electrical engineering.
Review, edit, and develop project specifications specific to their discipline.
Assist Project Managers in developing proposals by providing hours, sheet count, scope of work, project strategy and constraints, and appropriate clarifications and exclusions.
Interface with vendors to accomplish equipment sizing, system design and selection of electrical equipment.
Attend and participate in Local, Regional and National Organizations that are involved in the development of the profession or the regulatory guidelines that form the framework of the practice.

Remote Options

We are open to considering candidates from outside the Hampton Roads area for remote positions. These roles will require occasional travel and on-site visits to conduct fieldwork for projects outside BFA’s primary service area (Southeastern Virginia to Maryland) or when an in-office team member is unavailable.

The job will involve travel and on-site work to perform fieldwork. Bowman, Foster & Associates, Inc.
