Full Job Description

Description

PeaceHealth is seeking a Endoscopy Technician for a Full Time, 0.90 FTE, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $21.59 – $32.39. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing direct patient care and technical support services during endoscopic procedures in working within their scope of certification and in compliance with hospital and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.

Essential Functions

Assist effectively and independently on all cases as assigned.
Work collaboratively with RN, Charge Nurse, surgical techs and physicians to ensure delivery of exceptional patient care.
Coordinate the set-up and turnover of the procedure room.
Care for and trouble shoot equipment and accessories.
Work with other healthcare team members to meet patient satisfaction and departmental targets.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Accredited Program Required: Medical Assistant if Medical Assistant or
Completion of CNA program preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year Preferred: as a CNA in an acute care facility or as a Medical Assistant in an endoscopy unit and
Minimum of 6 months direct patient care required.
Specialized training, education, and/or experience in endoscopic, surgical or applicable diagnostic/therapeutic procedural support including aseptic technique may be considered in lieu of other education or experience requirements listed.
Required: Demonstrated competence in the role of assistant to nurses and physicians and
Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs

Credentials

Required: within 6 months Certified Nurse Assistant - Washington or
Required: within 60 Days Certified Medical Assistant - Washington Requirement and
Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support
If CNA, obtaining a SGNA GI Technical Specialist certification is required within 1 year after hire date. If MA, SGNA GI Technical Specialist certification within 1 year of hire is preferred but not required.

Skills

Basic computer/keyboarding skills, including MS Office applications (Required)
Well organized, flexible and able to function effectively and independently as assigned (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.
Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.
Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.

Environmental Conditions

Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
